Fox News Challenges Americans to Shoot Down Domestic Drones, Become “Folk Hero”: Would Increase Police State

“A drone is a high-tech version of an old army. It ought to be used in Somalia to hunt bad guys but not in America. Yes, you can say we have satellites, we have Google Street, we have everything else, but that is no reason to accept a society where you are always watched by the government.

I would predict the first guy who uses a second amendment weapon to bring a drone down who is hovering over his house will become a folk hero.”

Hayden’s Note:

In my opinion, this is a subtle challenge by the establishment media, knowing that if it happens, “second amendment weapons” will be under fierce scrutiny.  Our mainstream media puppets are always trying to usher along the police state, helping it whenever possible while offering Orwellian Double-speak.

“Satellites…Google Street…These are okay, but oh, no! Not drones!” It’s the same thing, people! Wake up.

US Army Re-Education Camps and PsyOps: Internment and Resettlement Operations

An American military document just uncovered appears to detail a US Army plan that calls for detaining “political activists” at re-education camps staffed by military-hired “PsyOps officers” in both America and abroad.

The website Infowars.com has unearthed the smoking gun, a copy of a United States military manual entitled FM 3-39.40 Internment and Resettlement Operations, which appears to offer Defense Department insiders instructions on dealing with the imprisonment of anyone considered an enemy to the American way of life and how to go about indoctrinating them with an “appreciation of US policies and actions” through psychological warfare.

Hayden’s Note:

I’m still doing my own research on this topic, but wanted to go ahead and post it so that you might be aware of it.  We’ve all heard about the Internment and Resettlement Specialist positions that were being offered within the US Army last year, but this is the first I have heard about any domestic confirmation for camps, aside from the hysteria created by the old ‘Civilian Inmate Labor’ document a few years ago (which turned out to be nothing nefarious, simply a policy on how to handle civilian inmates on military installations).

Hundreds of Economists: Marijuana Prohibition Costs Billions, Legalization Would Earn Billions

Posted on Apr 28, 2012 in Constitutional & Liberty Issues, Police, Military, & War, Political Issues

Over 300 economists, including three Nobel Laureates, recently signed a petition that encourages the president, Congress, governors and state legislatures to carefully consider marijuana legalization in America. The petition draws attention to an article by Harvard economist Jeffrey Miron, whose findings highlight the substantial cost-savings our government could incur if it were to tax and regulate marijuana, rather than needlessly spending billions of dollars enforcing its prohibition.

Miron predicts that legalizing marijuana would save $7.7 billion per year in government expenditure on enforcement, in addition to generating $2.4 billion annually if taxed like most consumer goods, or $6 billion per year if taxed similarly to alcohol and tobacco.

Hayden’s Note:

…and thousands of law enforcement officers agree.

Our marijuana policies have proven ineffective, expensive and discriminatory. Our courtrooms, jails and prisons remain crowded with nonviolent drug offenders. And yet, the government persists in its costly, racist and counterproductive criminalization of marijuana. We learned our lesson decades ago with alcohol prohibition; it is long overdue for us to do the same with marijuana prohibition....

State Dept Claims ‘War on Terror is Over’ – So Can We Get Rid of the Police State?

Posted on Apr 25, 2012 in Alphabet Agencies & Operations, Constitutional & Liberty Issues, Police, Military, & War

Kevin Hayden – TruthisTreason.net

Source: Natural News

In an astonishing bit of unexpected news, a senior State Department official has announced, “The war on terror is over.” This stems from the idea, reports the National Journal, that, “it is no longer the case, in other words, that every Islamist is seen as a potential accessory to terrorists.”

That same official continues, “Now that we have killed most of al Qaida, now that people have come to see legitimate means of expression, people who once might have gone into al Qaida see an opportunity for a legitimate Islamism.”

This is great news, isn’t it? If the “War on Terror” is over, then we can repeal and reverse all the ridiculous police state laws that were put in place to protect us from terrorism… right?

I mean, can we now fire the TSA? They were only put in place after the “terror” attacks on 9/11. If the war on terror is over, the TSA is no longer needed (even if you assume they were effective at all, which they weren’t).

Can we now repeal the Patriot Act which was passed out of an urgency to defend America from terrorists?...

Reader Emails: The Declaration of Independence Redux

Posted on Apr 24, 2012 in Blog, Editorials, & Thoughts, Constitutional & Liberty Issues, Political Issues

Kevin Hayden – TruthisTreason.net

I received this in an email from a reader, who asks, ”What would Mr. Thomas Jefferson write today?”

I found his response to be quite valid and cogent, and certainly worth a read.

A New Declaration of Independence

When frustration and discontent make it necessary for people to change their government and exercise their rightful power to determine the government they want, respect for other people’s opinions requires that they explain why they are dissatisfied with their government.

We believe these truths are self-evident. We believe that all men are created equal. We believe they have natural rights, and that their inherent rights cannot be taken from them. Whether people believe in a Creator or not, we believe that these rights include Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. Men create governments and consent to give them certain powers in order to protect and secure these rights for themselves. Whenever any government jeopardizes this goal, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government founded on those principles and to give it the powers they think will best protect and serve their Safety and Happiness....

HR 1505: Drones, Agenda 21 Land Grab, and Forward Operating Bases

Posted on Apr 24, 2012 in Alphabet Agencies & Operations, Constitutional & Liberty Issues, Political Issues

Kevin Hayden – TruthisTreason.net

House Bill 1505 could be nearing a vote, and it offers a whole lot more than many bargained for.  HR 1505 seeks to implement one of the most extensive increases in Police State power that I’ve seen in a long time, not to mention furthering the UN’s Agenda 21.

The intent of this bill is to prohibit the Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture from taking action on public lands which impede the border activities of the Secretary of Homeland Security.  One might simply think it is Congress’ way of making sure that Border Patrol can operate freely and unimpeded while preventing terrorism and illegal immigration.

In reality, this bill serves to decimate the US Constitution, negate the 10th Amendment, and infringe upon local, county, and state jurisdiction by giving 100 miles of land adjacent to any international border directly to Homeland Security without any recourse or oversight.

Section 2, (b) (1)

Authorized Activities of U.S. Customs and Border Protection-

(B) Construction and maintenance of fences.

Metro Bus Program: Undercover TSA Agents Searching Bags, Interrogating Passengers

A new program in Houston will place undercover TSA agents and police officers on buses to perform bag searches, watch for “suspicious activity,” and interrogate passengers in order to ‘curb crime and terrorism’.

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee unveiled the program, labeled Bus Safe.

Hayden’s Note:

Welcome to the Police State.  Officers will now search your bags, question your motives, and invade your constitutional privacy in the name of preventing “terrorism” on buses and trains, via the criminal-laden TSA.  In reality, it is a conditioning effort.

It would not end pretty if I were riding the bus and was harassed by TSA goons, frisked without probable cause, or even reasonable suspicion, and questioned as if I were a common thug. I would likely end up in jail with severe injuries.  Let’s see… 1st, 4th, and 5th Amendment violations so far…

“While local law enforcement agencies focus on overall safety measures noted above, representatives with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will also be on hand, lending their counter-terrorism expertise and support during the exercise,” states the press release....

Is The Hunger Games Trilogy a Libertarian Manifesto?

I’m about two hours away from finishing Mocking Jay, the last book of The Hunger Games trilogy. I wasn’t planning on reading the books, but once I got wind that there were some libertarian themes contained therein I figured…welllll, ok. So, do the books make up some sort of libertarian manifesto? One might think so based on thisthisthisthis, and this.

My take? I was pleasantly surprised. I kept waiting for the typical progressive themes of “Yeah, these big-government types over here are bad, but these big-government types over here are good.” Instead, you get the pleasing “These big-government types over here are bad, and these others that you thought would be good? Well, maybe they aren’t any good either.” There does seem to be a pervading message that if all these power-hungry leaders would just leave people alone, they could take care of themselves and be just fine, and “just fine” would be worlds better than where they’re at. If you’re already of a mind to loathe the State, these books will give you all the satisfaction you’re looking for, and it’s that much more satisfying to know how many other people are reading them....

Monsanto Threatens to Sue Vermont if Legislators Pass a GMO Labeling Bill

The world’s most hated corporation is at it again, this time in Vermont. Elected officials are abandoning public interest and the peoples’  will in the face of corporate intimidation.

Despite overwhelming public support and support from a clear majority of Vermont’s Agriculture Committee, Vermont legislators are dragging their feet on a proposed GMO labeling bill. Why? Because Monsanto has threatened to sue the state if the bill passes.

The popular legislative bill requiring mandatory labels on genetically engineered food (H-722) is languishing in the Vermont House Agriculture Committee, with only four weeks left until the legislature adjourns for the year. Despite thousands of emails and calls from constituents who overwhelmingly support mandatory labeling, despite the fact that a majority (6 to 5) of Agriculture Committee members support passage of the measure, Vermont legislators are holding up the labeling bill and refusing to take a vote.

What happened to the formerly staunch legislative champions of Vermont’s “right to know” bill? They lost their nerve and abandoned their principles after Monsanto representative recently threatened a public official that the biotech giant would sue Vermont if they dared to pass the bill....

Senate Bill 1813: Owe Taxes? Your Passport and Travel is Denied

Posted on Apr 05, 2012 in Alphabet Agencies & Operations, Constitutional & Liberty Issues

Kevin Hayden – TruthisTreason.net

A rather frightening amendment has been tacked onto a Federal highway construction bill.  Senate Bill 1813, proposed by Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer, includes an amendment  that would stop any American citizen from leaving the country based upon a non-judicial determination by the IRS that you owe the Federal government back taxes.

The amendment, Section 40304, was written by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and would authorize the State Department to revoke, deny or limit passports for anyone the Internal Revenue Service certifies as having “a seriously delinquent tax debt in an amount in excess of $50,000.”

Whatever happened to our right to travel?  We have become prisoners within our own country, reminiscent of East Germany and the wall.

Constitutional Attorney Angel Reyes says that’s a violation of due process and is unconstitutional.

“It takes away your right to enter or exit the country based upon a non-judicial IRS determination that you owe taxes,” Reyes told FOX Business. “It’s a scary thought that our congressional representatives want to give the IRS the power to detain US citizens over taxes, which could very well be in dispute.”

Financial Adviser Clark Hodges says the measure is especially concerning given the high number of taxpayers it could affect.

Former Black Panther Rep. Bobby Rush Kicked Off House Floor For Wearing Hoodie

Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL) was asked to leave the House floor for wearing a hoodie in protest of the Trayvon Martin shooting.

Presiding Officer Gregg Harper (R-MS) interrupted Rush’s protest and asked the Sergeant at Arms to enforce the prohibition on hats in the House chamber.

Hayden’s Note:

Where do I begin?  Former Black Panther-turned-CONgressman defies House rules, makes a mockery of the legislature, and wastes taxpayers’ time talking about events that have zero concern for the House floor. The Trayvon Martin case is a local matter, nothing more.  How many Hispanic/Black crimes happen every day? How many Black/Black, Black/White, White/Black, and Purple/Polka Dotted crimes happen each minute?  A Congressman from Illinois should have nothing to say about what happens in Florida, especially when few facts are known. This entire ordeal has simply distracted the masses from real events… nothing more.

FBI Excuses for Missing Oklahoma City Bombing Tapes Not Credible, Judge Says

Posted on Mar 27, 2012 in Alphabet Agencies & Operations, Constitutional & Liberty Issues

Kevin Hayden – TruthisTreason.net

Source: Deseret News

A federal judge on Wednesday continued to question the FBI’s explanation for not producing videotapes associated with the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing that a Salt Lake lawyer has sought for nearly six years.

“It’s quite astounding that documents as important as these went missing and the FBI says, ‘Well, they’re gone,’” U.S. District Judge Clark Waddoups said during a motion hearing.

At issue is whether the FBI adequately responded to Jesse Trentadue’s Freedom of Information Act request for footage of Timothy McVeigh parking a truckload of explosives at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building on April 19, 1995. Specifically, the Salt Lake attorney is after a building surveillance tape and dashcam video from the Oklahoma state trooper who stopped McVeigh 90 minutes after the explosion that killed 168 people.

The FBI has submitted several declarations from its top records manager to show the agency has searched electronic databases and evidence warehouses without success. But Waddoups said the declarations lack credibility because they do not include firsthand knowledge or details about who, when, where or how the searches were conducted....

NSA’s Spy Program ‘Stellar Wind’ Exposed: “Turnkey Totalitarian State”

The lead story in Wired magazine for April exposed the Stellar Wind program for its intended purpose: to spy on every jot and tittle of every American citizen’s life all the way down to his “pocket litter:” parking-lot stubs, receipts from McDonalds, tickets from his haircut at Cost Cutters, as well as all the way up to the content of his every e-mail, every Google search, every telephone or cellphone conversation.

Stellar Wind is the code name for an effort approved by President George W. Bush following the September 11, 2001 attacks to mine a large database of communications of American citizens but which was allegedly terminated when Congress pushed back against it.

However, the National Security Agency, awash with funds provided by Congress, is nearly finished constructing its Utah Data Center as the collection point for data provided from around the country and around the world. Its purpose: “to intercept, decipher, analyze and store vast swaths of the world’s communications … [including] all forms of communication, including the complete contents of private emails, cell phone calls and Google searches.” In other words, according to James Bamford, author of The Shadow Factory: The Ultra-Secret NSA from 9/11 to the Eavesdropping on America, when the $2 billion facility (consisting of four 25,000 square-foot buildings full of computer servers and their air conditioning units plus a 900,000 square-foot building to house its technical and administration people) is completed in September, 2013,

…virtually everything one communicates through any traceable medium, or any record of one’s existence in the electronic medium, which these days is everything, will … become the property of the US government to deal with as its sees fit.

Doomsday Executive Order or Govt Preparedness? Either Way, It’s Tyrannical

“In a nutshell, it’s the blueprint for Peacetime Martial Law and it gives the president the power to take just about anything deemed necessary for “National Defense”, whatever they decide that is.” (The Intel Hub)

While millions of people have been preparing for the possibility of a catastrophic event by relocating to rural homesteads or farms, as well as stockpiling food, water, personal defense armaments and other essential supplies with the intention of utilizing these preparations if the worst happens, the latest executive order signed by President Obama on March 16, 2012 makes clear that in the event of a nationally deemed emergency all of these resources will fall under the authority of the United States government.

Hayden’s Counterpoint:

While I find this EO to be interesting, and most certainly enjoy the work of Activist Post, Intel Hub, and SHTF Plan, I must agree with Doug Mataconis on this matter:

It all sounds pretty scary, and it wasn’t long before the usual suspects were citing this as evidence of some kind of plan for martial law, just as there were people on the left and far-right in asserting that George Bush was going to declare martial law and cancel the elections in 2004 and 2008.

Two NBC journalists were handcuffed and threatened by Chicago police after attempting to report on the murder of a 6-year-old girl yesterday, NBC Chicago reports.

Police were called to the hospital shortly after reporters arrived on the scene. The journalists said they has already moved away from a public sidewalk and across the street at the request of the police.

One police officer was then caught on camera telling other members of the media, “Your First Amendment right can be terminated if you’re creating a scene… or whatever. Your First Amendment right has got limitations.”

Watch the video:

When the reporters asked for clarification on how they were creating a scene, the officer replied, “Your presence is creating a scene.”

“This is what we do for a living!” one reporter replied, before another added, “You’ve got a lawsuit coming!”

“I don’t care about no damn lawsuit!” the officer fired back. “F*ck a lawsuit. Just ’cause you sue doesn’t mean you’re going to win.”

Photographer Donte Williams and WGN Reporter Dan Ponce were then handcuffed and briefly detained by the officer, who threatened them with trespassing charges....

OK County GOP Excludes RP Delegates, Supporters Fight Back and Win Majority

Ron Paul delegates were being excluded from the Oklahoma County GOP Convention, but by using the establishment’s own rules of order against them, they were able to fight back and gain a majority!

In attendance, and in support of the Ron Paul delegates, were Oklahoma State Representatives Charles Key and Ralph Shortey, along with many influential, local activists.

If you’ve ever been a Ron Paul delegate, you know that the GOP central committees will employ every trick in the book to avoid having to seat Ron Paul delegates. They will freely ignore their own bylaws, apply rules in such a manner as to only exclude Paul delegates, and will liberally employ intimidation tactics through verbal abuse, and even physical manhandling of delegates.

In the end, if everything else fails, they’ll attempt to get you to switch your vote by begging you to be a “team player” and by claiming that Romney is electable and that your dissent will keep Obama in power. - Lew Rockwell’s Blog

In an unbelievable act of high treason and overt criminality, the US State Department, headed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, has finalized arrangements to move the US State Department-listed foreign terror organization, Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MEK), into the former US military base “Camp Liberty’ in Iraq.

Hayden’s Note:

Article III, Section 3 of the US Constitution defines treason as waging war against the interests of the United States or giving aid and comfort to her enemies.  First and foremost, I’m not sure which is closer to the definition of our enemy: The US State Department as a whole?  Or just their policies and support for violent, for-hire terrorist organizations acting out the directives of Western Intelligence…?  Are we not culpable for terrorism by proxy?

And we’re giving them Camp Liberty?  What a slap in the face.

Effectively turning the camp into a living monument of desecration to the memories of 6,000+LinkUS troops killed over the last 10 years of the fraudulent “War on Terror,” the US State Department is also appropriating US taxpayers’ money to make upgrades to the camp to accommodate the terrorist organization....

Romney Family Members Campaigning for Ron Paul

No less than six relatives of Presidential candidate Mitt Romney have joined the campaign trail in the race for the GOP nomination, but they’re not supporting the former Massachusetts governor, they’re campaigning for Texas Congressman Ron Paul.

Three of Romney’s relatives will even speak at Idaho caucus sites, declaring their support for Paul in a story that is sure to create a buzz around Paul’s campaign as he looks to pick up his first caucus win on Super Tuesday.

The Paul campaign issued a press release Monday introducing five Romney relatives, then issued another release shortly afterwards noting a sixth.

Hayden’s Note:

Haha. How sad.  Even Mitt’s family members think Ron Paul is the only constitutional, small-government candidate!

Travis Romney, Troy Romney and Chad Romney, all cousins of Mitt Romney, will speak before Ron Paul crowds in Idaho today. Ty Romney and Jared Romney, whose grandfathers are cousins of former Michigan Governor George Romney, the father of Mitt Romney, have also declared their support for Paul.

US Congress Passes Authoritarian Anti-Protest Law

Source: WSWS

A bill passed Monday in the US House of Representatives and Thursday in the Senate would make it a felony—a serious criminal offense punishable by lengthy terms of incarceration—to participate in many forms of protest associated with the Occupy Wall Street protests of last year. Several commentators have dubbed it the “anti-Occupy” law, but its implications are far broader.

The bill—H.R. 347, or the “Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011”—was passed by unanimous consent in the Senate, while only Ron Paul and two other Republicans voted against the bill in the House of Representatives (the bill passed 388-3). Not a single Democratic politician voted against the bill.

The virtually unanimous passage of H.R. 347 starkly exposes the fact that, despite all the posturing, the Democrats and the Republicans stand shoulder to shoulder with the corporate and financial oligarchy, which regarded last year’s popular protests against social inequality with a mixture of fear and hostility.

Among the central provisions of H.R. 347 is a section that would make it a criminal offense to “enter or remain in” an area designated as “restricted.”

The bill defines the areas that qualify as “restricted” in extremely vague and broad terms.

Wyoming Advances Doomsday Bill, Establishes State Sovereignty & Disaster Contingency

Posted on Feb 26, 2012 in Constitutional & Liberty Issues, Emergency Preparedness & Survival, Political Issues

Kevin Hayden – TruthisTreason.net

Source: Star Tribune via Cryptogon.com

State representatives advanced legislation to launch a study into what Wyoming should do in the event of a complete economic or political collapse in the United States.

House Bill 85 passed on first reading by a voice vote. It would create a state-run government continuity task force, which would study and prepare Wyoming for potential catastrophes, from disruptions in food and energy supplies to a complete meltdown of the federal government.

The task force would look at the feasibility of Wyoming issuing its own alternative currency, if needed. And House members approved an amendment Friday by state Rep. Kermit Brown, R-Laramie, to have the task force also examine conditions under which Wyoming would need to implement its own military draft, raise a standing army, and acquire strike aircraft and an aircraft carrier.

The bill’s sponsor, state Rep. David Miller, R-Riverton, has said he doesn’t anticipate any major crises hitting America anytime soon. But with the national debt exceeding $15 trillion and protest movements growing around the country, Miller said Wyoming — which has a comparatively good economy and sound state finances — needs to make sure it’s protected should any unexpected emergency hit the U.S....

For years, I’ve been involved in various circles of organic gardening, local produce, food co-ops, alternative architecture, and local currencies.  It’s been a passion of mine for quite some time.  In 2008, as I was campaigning for Ron Paul’s Presidential bid, I stumbled across a small website that was offering an experiment in alternative housing, garden co-ops, and liberty-oriented living.  What does that mean, you ask?  I wondered the same thing and looked into it more.

At first, I expected this to be some crazy commune idea and I instantly conjured up images of people living in run-down RVs, huts, and wearing lots of tie-dye.  While there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s not my idea of an ideal neighborhood or living experiment.  But their website was geared towards liberty lovers and self-reliant people in west Texas, so it couldn’t be too bad.

A brief excerpt:

The process involves forming a co-op of people buying “shares” in the community and these people would be granted land use at a minimum of 1 acre per share, for as long as they homesteaded the land.

This is a call to wake those who still believe there is a difference between the so-called Left and Right.  Democrats and Republicans, Liberals and Conservatives: they are one in the same when it comes to Washington, with only minor, petty differences so that you feel as though you have a viable argument in supporting the platforms and actions of those who represent it. Secondly, Michael Scheuer and the Judge lay down heavy artillery on the fact that members of Congress are bought by Israel.

Let’s be honest, quite a few Americans love a good war, especially those Americans who have never had to bear witness to one first hand.  War is the ultimate tribally vicarious experience.  Anyone, even pudgy armchair generals with deep-seated feelings of personal inadequacy, can revel in the victories and actions of armies a half a world away as if they themselves stood on the front lines risking possible annihilation at the hands of dastardly cartoon-land “evil doers”.  They may have never done a single worthwhile thing in their lives, but at least they can bask in the perceived glory of their country’s military might.

This attitude of swollen ego through proxy is not limited to the “Right” side of the political spectrum as some might expect.  In fact, if the terrifyingly demented presidency of Barack Obama has proven anything so far, it is that elements of the “Left” are just as bloodthirsty as any NeoCon, and just as ready to blindly support the political supremacy of their “side” regardless of any broken promises, abandoned principles, or openly flaunted hypocrisies....

One thousand veterans and active duty troops will shatter the corporate media hoax that insists members of the American military do not support Ron Paul due to his opposition to the unconstitutional, continual war agenda of the establishment.

Despite this myth, the New York Times was obliged to admit reality last December, even if the admission wasn’t featured on the front page of the newspaper but instead posted on a remote area of its website.

“Representative Ron Paul, the congressman who favors the most minimalist American combat role of any major presidential candidate and who said all of the above quotes, has more financial support from active duty members of the service than any other politician,” Timothy Egan wrote.

“As of the last reporting date, at the end of September, Paul leads all candidates by far in donations from service members. This trend has been in place since 2008, when Paul ran for president with a similar stance: calling nonsense at hawk squawk from both parties.”

The troops also and not surprisingly support Paul over Obama, who said he would end the wars and bring the troops home and instead expanded the unjustified, illegal and unconstitutional wars started by his predecessor....

Congress is poised to give final passage to legislation that would give a big boost to domestic unmanned aerial surveillance — aka “drones.”

Hayden’s Note:

No matter the topic, every time that I quote the ACLU, I get a flood of messages calling me a leftist or liberal.  Silly sheeple.  The drones will be deployed against all of us, not just the left or right.  Wake up.

As we explained in our recent report, drone technology is advancing by leaps and bounds, and there is a lot of pent-up demand for them within the law enforcement community. But, domestic deployment of unmanned aircraft for surveillance purposes has largely been blocked so far by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which is rightly concerned about the safety effects of filling our skies with flying robots (which crash significantly more often than manned aircraft).

As we also explained in our report, the FAA is under pressure to loosen the reins and permit broader deployment of drones by government agencies.

One result of that pressure is this legislation (H.R....

NYPD Must Pay $15 Million for Illegally Arresting 22,000

For almost 30 years — from 1983 to 2012 — the New York Police Department went about arresting people under laws that state and federal courts had long declared unconstitutional, cuffing and booking almost 22,000 people. In 2010, federal judge Shira A. Scheindlin finally held them in contempt of court. Yesterday, she signed an order approving what is effectively their punishment: a $15 million class-action settlement that could generate individual payments of as much as $5,000.

Those arrested were forced to defend themselves in court and even served jail time for completely lawful behavior. The class action settlement also requires the city to help the courts vacate and seal all convictions stemming from the illegal arrests.

“NYPD used these void laws over the past few decades to target people based on poverty, race and sexual orientation,” said J. McGregor Smyth, an attorney from the Bronx Defenders and a lead attorney for the class. “We are happy that the city has finally taken responsibilities for these abuses, agreeing to pay meaningful damages to its victims and to stop its unconstitutional practices once and for all.”

The three unconstitutional laws under which the NYPD made the illegal arrests prohibited people from loitering to panhandle, to search for sex partners or to wait in a bus or train station.

According to New DHS Report, If You Love “Individual Liberty” or “Question Government,” You are a Potential Terrorist

Do you love America?  Are you against a one world economy and a one world government?  Do you deeply love individual liberty?  Do you believe in conspiracy theories?  If you answered any of those questions affirmatively, then you are a potential terrorist according to a brand new Department of Homeland Security report that was just released in January 2012.

The report is entitled “Hot Spots of Terrorism and Other Crimes in the United States, 1970 to 2008″ was produced by the “National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism” for the Department of Homeland Security.

As you will see detailed later on in this article, the most shocking part of this report is when it discusses the “ideological motivations” of potential terrorists.  The report shamelessly attempts to portray red-blooded Americans that love liberty and that love their country as the enemy.  Once upon a time, deeply patriotic Americans were considered to be the backbone of America, but today they are considered to be potential terrorists.

And this report is yet another example of how the definition of “terrorism” has changed.  A decade ago, the entire focus of the “war on terror” was on radical Muslims and we were told that we had to send our boys and girls to the other side of the world to defeat them....

America’s Last Hope: Constitutional Sheriffs Convention in Las Vegas

Something big and game-changing happened in Las Vegas last Monday and Tuesday and it was far too good to just let it ‘stay in Vegas’.  A first-time ever gathering of over 115 Constitutional County Sheriffs (representing over 3% of America’s sheriffs) from 35 states came together to reaffirm their oaths of office and to learn how to better defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, especially domestic.  There were also several good deputy sheriffs and police chiefs in attendance.  Of note, five California sheriffs attended, all from Northern California, who have been fighting the Federal Government over land, water, and forest rights.

Myself and a couple dozen Patriots from Oath Keepers and other American patriot groups also attended to lend our support to this historic gathering and to let these brave sheriffs know that We the People stand with them in their ever-increasing battles against over-reaching federal, state, and local government politicians and agencies.  We all met and stayed at the Tuscany Hotel for 2 ½ days of strategizing, networking, and classes from top national Constitutional experts and several sheriffs who have been engaged in the struggle to protect their citizens and uphold the 10thAmendment (state’s rights) against the Federal Government....
