A Look at the Past: All Fiat Currencies Collapse and Fail

In spite of constant headlines about debts and deficits, most Americans don’t really believe the U.S. dollar will collapse. From knowledgeable investors who study the markets to those seemingly too busy to worry about such things, most dismiss the idea of the dollar actually going to zero.

History has a message for us: No fiat currency has lasted forever. Eventually, they all fail.

BMG BullionBars recently published a poster featuring pictures of numerous currencies that have gone bust. Some got there quickly, while others took a century or more. Regardless of how long it took, though, the seductive temptations allowed under a fiat monetary system eventually caught up with these governments, and their currencies went poof!

You might suspect this happened only to third world countries. You’d be wrong. There was no discrimination as to the size or perceived stability of a nation’s economy; if the leaders abused their currency, the country paid the price.

As you scroll through the currencies below, you’ll see some long-ago casualties....

Ron Paul Exposes the Deficit Lies: “Cuts are Illusory, Not from Current Amounts Spent But from Projected Spending Increases”

Posted on Aug 01, 2011 in Constitutional & Liberty Issues, Economic News, Featured Articles – Kevin Hayden

Source: Ron Paul & Zero Hedge

One might think that the recent drama over the debt ceiling involves one side wanting to increase or maintain spending with the other side wanting to drastically cut spending, but that is far from the truth.  In spite of the rhetoric being thrown around, the real debate is over how much government spending will increase.

No plan under serious consideration cuts spending in the way you and I think about it.  Instead, the “cuts” being discussed are illusory, and are not cuts from current amounts being spent, but cuts in projected spending increases.  This is akin to a family “saving” $100,000 in expenses by deciding not to buy a Lamborghini, and instead getting a fully loaded Mercedes, when really their budget dictates that they need to stick with their perfectly serviceable Honda.  But this is the type of math Washington uses to mask the incriminating truth about their unrepentant plundering of the American people.

The truth is that frightening rhetoric about default and full faith and credit of the United States is being carelessly thrown around to ram through a bigger budget than ever, in spite of stagnant revenues. ...

S.C. Police on Alert After Political Activist “Liked” Article on Facebook – Hayden’s Note Attached

With the increase in propaganda being pushed by the mainstream media government police state agencies regarding “right wing extremists” and “domestic terrorists,” many are no longer surprised when law enforcement or government agents single out individuals or groups that may express controversial or unpopular points of view, or even points of view that are simply critical of government or its agents.

Most people are content to accept the fact that these types of free speech violations happen but that they happen somewhere else like New York or Los Angeles where any number of things can happen on any given day.

However, some South Carolina residents are receiving a wake-up call today, as police in Kershaw County have been placed on alert for “people out there that might want to hurt them.” The reason for the alert? An article that was posted to a Facebook page and an individual that “liked” it.

The article, entitled “When Should You Shoot A Cop?” was published by, an organization that promotes transparency and accountability of law enforcement....

How the Two-Party Oligarchy Uses the Democrat Vs Republican Charade to Loot the Country

Posted on Jul 28, 2011 in Featured Articles, Political Issues – Kevin Hayden

First a note on the use of hyperbole: People often think I’m using hyperbole when I talk about “financial terrorism,” our descent into “neo-feudalism,” the “two-Party oligarchy,” our confirmed “banana republic” status or the fact that President Obama is a “bankster puppet.” I’m aware that most people will think I’m being overly extreme, but in these extreme times, all these terms are technical descriptions of our unfortunate political reality. Career wise, I would be better off, over the short-term, if I censored this harsh reality and used more delicate language, but I’m not interested in making a career out of this, or being accepted into some status quo supporting groupthink organization. I’m here to sound the alarm. So I have much respect for people who are also speaking bold truth to power, whatever the consequences may be. Fortunately, more people are starting to speak up.

Hayden’s Note:

Allow me to add: This entire “debt default” nonsense is very much the same thing.  It’s just a giant game of political wrangling.  We’re not going to default. ...

I’ve Returned from My Vacation!

Posted on Jul 27, 2011 in Featured Articles, Truth is Treason News – Kevin Hayden

Good afternoon everyone!

I have finally returned, although it seems oh-so quickly.  I have spent the last 6 days in the middle of the Ozark Mountains, exploring caves, rivers and trying to relax a bit.  The awning of my camper completely ripped off during a brief windstorm, I blew out a tire on the way home which sent a piece of rubber up through the floorboard of my kitchen, but overall, it was a great vacation.  I toured historic Civil War battlefields, perused the streets and shops of Eureka Springs, and took the back-roads in order to enjoy the quiet countryside.

While it was good to “unplug” for almost a week, I couldn’t wait to get back to new updates!  So much has happened in the world in such a short time!

And if you emailed me, please be patient.  My inbox is overflowing and will take me a day or so to settle in, get unpacked and reply to the messages!

As always, if you have a story or link that you’d like to see on Truth is, feel free to email me at contact (@) or use the ‘About | Contact’ page to submit it!...

Going on Vacation!

Posted on Jul 20, 2011 in Featured Articles, Truth is Treason News – Kevin Hayden

Well, I am outta here.  At least for 6 days, that is.

I started Truth is back in September of 2009 and have not taken a true vacation since 2008’ish.  I figured it was high-time I head out into the woods again and re-center myself, allow this rat race we call work and daily life to disappear for a few days and do some reflection.

If you’re a daily reader of TruthisTreason, I encourage you to continue coming to the site over the weekend and checking out some archived stories or perhaps hitting up some links on the sidebar if you don’t already.  While having my hands full at my regular job, I’ve been a bit slacking over the last few weeks with updates here and I feel bad that I’m taking off and leaving everyone high and dry.  But the sites linked on my sidebar can help keep you informed, entertained and you might even find a new blog or two that you become a fan of!

Feel free to continue sending links, story ideas and emails to me while I’m gone! ...

Head of the World’s Biggest Hedge Fund Sees “Economic Collapse” Due to Money Printing, Early 2013

Posted on Jul 19, 2011 in Economic News, Featured Articles, Federal Reserve & Bankers – Kevin Hayden

Source: Zero Hedge

As part of its most recent issue the New Yorker has released a must read interview with Ray Dalio – head of the world’s biggest hedge fund, Bridgewater.Dalio’s fund, which according to some may now be as large as $80 billion, continues to outperform even in this problematic environment, indicating that unlike various other managers who shall remain nameless, and whose wealth is built up almost exclusively on one trade (and that belonging to someone else in the first place), Dalio, despite rumors that he is preparing to leave his current position and is actively seeking a replacement, is still keenly able to adapt to changing macro conditions. Which is why his warning about future rounds of QE, which he sees as a certainty, should be heeded. Especially since it conforms 100% with the warnings of Zero Hedge – Dalio believes that future inevitable money printing will “lead to a collapse in currencies and bond markets.” Dalio is even kind enough to give a time frame. “I think late 2012 or early 2013 is going to be another very difficult period.” He is, to say the least, quite diplomatic....

One Million March in Support of Colonel Qaddafi While US Formally Recognizes Libya “Rebels” as New Gov’t

Posted on Jul 17, 2011 in Featured Articles, Global & National News – Kevin Hayden

Source: Global Research + Hayden’s Notes

Mirage fighters, F16 fighters, B-2 Stealth bombers, 15,000 NATO air sorties; The bombing of thousands of civilian targets…
Global Research’s Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya reporting from Tripoli refutes the media consensus which upholds NATO’s humanitarian mandate. He provides us with a review of the mass rallies directed against NATO including extensive photographic evidence.

NATO is said to be coming to the rescue of the Libyan people. That is what we are being told.  Western journalists have quite deliberately distorted what is happening inside Libya. They have upheld NATO as an instrument of peace and democratization.

They have endorsed an illegal and criminal war.  They are instruments of US-NATO propaganda.

It’s very hard to get an accurate number of the mass of people that attended the Friday rally in support of Colonel Qaddafi in Green Square, but estimates have placed the size of the July 1st rally at one million people.  Libya is a country of roughly six million citizens, so compare this rally to Washington, DC being marched upon by 58 million Americans!...

Afghan President’s Brother & Drug Warlord, Ahmed Karzai, Shot & Killed by Trusted Guard/CIA Asset

Posted on Jul 17, 2011 in Featured Articles, Police, Military, & War – Kevin Hayden

Source: Washington Post

The half-brother of Afghan President Hamid Karzai was assassinated by a trusted local security official Tuesday, a political killing that was immediately claimed by the Taliban and makes grimly clear the vulnerability of Afghan officials as the United States prepares to reduce its military presence.

Ahmed Wali Karzai — head of Kandahar’s provincial council and widely considered the most powerful man in southern Afghanistan — was meeting with tribal elders and politicians in his heavily fortified home in downtown Kandahar city Tuesday morning, according to two people at the house at the time.

Hayden’s Note:

Lovely.  The mainstream media is already using this to twist the “reduction of military presence.”  This has NOTHING to do with a reduction of military presence and has everything to do with intelligence operations, Afghan President Hamid Karzai, tribal warlords, opium, defense contractors, perhaps Russia and even the CIA.

Hopefully, if the Russians have any cojones – like I imagine they DO, at least back in the KGB days – they were behind this.  And rightly so.  Russia has fallen victim to the incredible surge of heroin since the US invasion and subsequent opium field protection by US soldiers. ...

Global Elites, the CIA Handlers and the Rise of Controlled Social Media

Posted on Jul 15, 2011 in Featured Articles, Social Networking – Kevin Hayden

Source: The Daily Bell

The Economist magazine is out with an article entitled “The end of mass media: Coming full circle.” It actually provides us with a kind of sub-dominant social theme – that “social media” take us back to the pamphleteering days of Samuel Johnson, Ben Franklin, Thomas Paine and others.

This has been, in a sense, a message of ours for many years. And here at DB, we’ve regularly compared the output of the Gutenberg Press and its revolutionary influence to the Internet. The Economist is about 10 years late in joining the party.

Even so, I think The Economist is making the wrong comparison and doing it on purpose. Blogs and websites are a far more appropriate comparison to the Gutenberg Press than “social media.”

There is likely a reason that The Economist, a power elite mouthpiece, wants to talk up social media. Here’s the beginning of an article from Global Research written way back in March 2009, when Facebook only had 20 million users but was well on its way to success:

Facebook – the CIA conspiracy … Facebook has 20 million users worldwide, is worth billions of dollars and, if internet sources are to be believed, was started by the CIA....

Woman Faces 93 days in Jail for Planting Garden in Front Yard *UPDATE*

Posted on Jul 15, 2011 in Constitutional & Liberty Issues, Featured Articles, Urban Gardening, Farming & Homesteading – Kevin Hayden

UPDATE July 15th, 2011: The Detroit News

Charges against the woman who planted a vegetable garden in her front yard have been dropped, her attorney said Thursday.

But other charges against Julie Bass have been resurrected for not having licenses for her two dogs — even though she took care of that issue, lawyer Solomon Radner said.

Hayden’s Note:

According to Bass’ blog, she took care of the dog issue long ago just in *case* the city tried to seek additional charges.  City code only allows citizens two dogs and they must be licensed; she has two dogs and made sure the licenses were current at the very beginning of this ordeal, so I’m not sure what this is all about.  This story has gone viral across the alternative media spectrum and I fully believe that due to your phone calls, emails and the national attention that Oak Park city officials received, they backed off of their absurd assertion barring this lady from growing vegetables and instead, attacked something that didn’t sound quite so absurd, yet trivial anyway.

Gold Hits Record After Fed and White House Unleash Economic Terrorism – Hayden’s Note

Posted on Jul 14, 2011 in Economic News, Featured Articles – Kevin Hayden

Source: Bloomberg

Gold advanced to records in London and New York as concern about more U.S. economic stimulus and debt woes in the country and Europe boosted demand for the metal as a protection of wealth.

The dollar fell against six major currencies after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said the central bank is prepared to take additional action, including buying more government bonds (from Goldman Sachs at a higher price than if buying from the Treasury Dept!), to boost the economy. Moody’s Investors Service said the U.S. may lose the Aaa credit rating it’s held since 1917, while Fitch Ratings slashed Greece’s rating and said that a default is a “real possibility.”

Hayden’s Note:

The Dollar ALWAYS seems to fall after Bernanke opens his mouth.  But in regards to this “debt default” nonsense, I have to offer a few words.  The Treasury and White House Administration are trying to scare Americans into thinking this “default” would be bad for America, that SS checks won’t go out the day after and that Moody’s is going to downgrade our credit.  ...

White House Rural Council, Executive Order 13575 – Another Step Towards Agenda 21

On June 9th, 2011, President Obama issued Executive Order 13575 for a White House Rural Council that purports to exert broad municipal powers over the food, fiber and energy production of Rural Americans. Where’s the Line, America?

How much power can the president amass by executive order before you stand up for yourself and your community?  Your family and future?

The Department of Defense will be involved in this “rural council,” along with Timothy Geithner (Former Goldman Sachs, Former President of the New York Federal Reserve), the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice, Attorney General’s Office, The National Office for Drug Control Policy, Department of Education and more.

And something almost even more ominous than Executive Order 13575 is the fact that FOX News, of all people, mentioned the United Nations Agenda 21!

And from The Blaze:

Executive Order 13575 is designed to begin taking control over almost all aspects of the lives of 16% of the American people....

Iran, EMP and the First Dollar War

A short story showing how powerful elite interests and central bankers could manipulate American foreign policy using a black flag event in order to guarantee the American dollar remains the world’s reserve currency. This is of course just a work of fiction and hypothetical case study and the characters have no relation to actual people, government officials or events.

“Generals always prepare to fight the last war.” ~ a proverb

Part One – The following is a short case study about a potential war and financial crisis starting in the Middle East.

The White House Situation Room

The Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) called the meeting to order. “Mr. President, Vice President, selected members of the Cabinet, the Joint Chiefs and Senate and House Committee chairmen, it is a pleasure to be here today along with the Treasury Secretary and the Chairman of the Federal Reserve.”

“Due to the sensitive nature of this information, everyone here is to treat the information we present today as top-secret in nature and any leaks will be dealt with by the harshest measures available including enhanced interrogation and even imprisonment in secure facilities ranging from Diego Garcia to Guantanamo....

A Prepper’s View of Independence and the 4th of July

Posted on Jul 05, 2011 in Emergency Preparedness & Survival, Featured Articles – Kevin Hayden

Source: via Activist Post

For many, the 4th of July has traditionally marked the true beginning of summer, often celebrated with family barbeques, lots of beer, a parade and of course, fireworks.  Somewhere along the way – at least for many – the true meaning of the 4th of July has been lost.

Is it any surprise that very few refer to the “4th” – as it is commonly called – as Independence Day? Nope. Not really. But let me begin at the beginning.

The Story Behind Independence Day

Back in the years leading up to 1776, the colonists were feeling the crunch of Great Britain telling them what to do and when, and charging them for the privilege through excessive taxation. People started getting P.O.’d and decided they were sick and tired of the status quo. So, in a nutshell, they decided to tell the King to take a hike. They wanted to become their own independent country, free from the tyranny that had plagued them for years.

The Congress met and appointed a committee to write a formal document that would tell Great Britain that the Americans had decided to govern themselves....
