The Pentagon is set to create [yet another new intelligence / defense / espionage organization] to focus on global strategic threats and the challenges posed by countries including Iran, North Korea, and China. The move will bring to 17 the total number of intelligence organizations in the US.

The Defense Clandestine Service is supposed to work closely with its counterpart in the CIA, the National Clandestine Service, recruiting spies from the ranks of the Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and deploying them globally on perceived long-term threats to US national interests.

Just what we need.  As if the DHS, ICE, HSI, FBI, ATF, DEA, CIA, DIA, NSA, TSA, NCS, TFI, INR, NRO, ONI, NSI, DOD, and the CBP weren’t enough, now we get another “defense intelligence” organization.

Terry Yeakey was a giant of a man with a heart as big as the rest of him. I wish I had known him. He was a crusader for truth. Whenever his name is mentioned, I think of the news photo of him sprinting down NW 5th Street toward the Murrah Building on another of the many rescue missions he performed that ugly day. In his gray uniform, he tends to remind us of a NFL linebacker about to put the sack on an unfortunate quarterback, but this is quickly overridden by the grave concern on the face of a policeman in a panic to save lives.

Hayden’s Note:

Along with a doctor and several other citizens, Terry began pulling survivors out of the rubble. What he saw either during the explosion or at the scene started him on a path that ultimately led to his death.  Many of his statements over the next year would hint that he had discovered something at the scene that was in direct conflict with the official story.

Former CIA officer John Kiriakou was charged in a five-count indictment Thursday for allegedly disclosing classified information to journalists and lying to the CIA about information he included in his book “The Reluctant Spy: My Secret Life in the CIA’s War on Terror.”

The indictment charges Kiriakou, a one-time ABC News consultant, with one count of disclosing the identity of a covert CIA officer, three counts of disclosing sensitive national defense information, and one count of making false statements to the CIA’s Publications Review Board in an effort to trick the board into allowing him to publish classified information in his book. The information was related to individuals allegedly involved in controversial CIA interrogation techniques that some have termed torture.

Hayden’s Note:

“Some have termed torture.” Umm, I’m pretty sure the act of nearly drowning someone repeatedly, making them believe they are going to die, is in fact, torture. There is no guessing or giving it a “term.”  It’s torture and it’s an extremely poor form of interrogation.

This is what happens to whistleblowers and those who speak their mind.

I’d like to remind everyone that Defense Sec. Leon Panetta (Former CIA Director) just stated in Jan. 2012, that Iran is nearly a year away from a nuclear weapon.

Considering that the Gulf of Tonken incident was a deliberate fabrication to escalate the Vietnam War, one many members in Congress are shown to have acknowledged and debated even at the time, or the more recent Iraqi WMD hoax, there is certainly a historical precedence to create such provocations when targeted nations refuse to provide them....

Moscow has accused the west of stirring up tensions in the Arab world by calling for the overthrow of the Syrian regime. Russia says calls from certain states for the Syrian opposition to avoid dialogue with the government, are only provoking further violence. Author and journalist Webster Tarpley, who’s in Damascus, says it’s very simple; Western powers are behind the violence in Syria, including death squads and snipers trying to instigate problems.

This reminds me of the assassination of Benazhir Bhutto, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan.  She was shot in the face and Heads of State claimed it was protesters, terrorists, or an explosion.  Most geopolitical sources now agree that it was an targeted intelligence operation involving snipers and quite likely, private contractors being the trigger man.

This also echoes what just happened in Libya… hired mercenaries and al-Qaeda members from the region descend upon the towns as a Western proxy army in order to cause regime change....

As reported earlier, rebel fighters tasked by NATO to take Bani Walid have begun filtering back home after frustrating and continuous defeat by the city’s defenders. A recent rocket barrage managed to kill rebel commander Daw Saleheen, who was leading operations against Bani Walid, Associated Press reported. Saleheen had taken part in a previous, CIA-MI6 1993 attempt to overthrow Qaddafi and the Libyan government, and was subsequently imprisoned for 18 years. Tempting fate twice, Saleheen became a field commander for this most recent Western-backed attempt to seize Libya, featuring brutal air bombardments by NATO aircraft and foreign arms and training being freely shipped into the country. Despite these increased odds, for Daw Saleheen, his ignoble battle has ended in defeat.

Meanwhile, the coastal city of Sirte is still holding out against NATO attacks civilians are describing as “genocidal,” while rebel forces concede their “final assault” has failed, and are regrouping for yet another “final assault.” The rebels, with NATO assistance, are still cutting off Sirte from essential supplies, including food, water, and electricity, intentionally creating a humanitarian disaster to, as the rebels say, “starve the city into submission.”

The Washington Post, one of a handful of media outlets alerted to the public court documents by a London-based rights group, said they include flight logs and logs of phone calls to CIA headquarters and officials.

On Aug. 12, 2003, a Gulfstream IV aircraft carrying six passengers took off from Dulles International Airport and flew to Bangkok with fueling stops in Cold Bay, Alaska, and Osaka, Japan.

Before it returned four days later, the plane also touched down in Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates and Ireland. As these unusual flights happened, U.S. officials took custody of an Indonesian terrorist, Riduan Isamuddin, who had been captured in Thailand and would spend the next three years being shuttled among secret prisons operated by the CIA.

The Gulfstream IV’s itinerary, as well as the $339,228.05 price tag for the journey, are among the details of shadowy CIA flights that have emerged in a small Upstate New York courthouse in a billing dispute between contractors. The court documents offer a rare glimpse of the costs and operations of the controversial rendition program....

An aide to former Secretary of State Colin Powell has hit out at Dick Cheney, saying the former Vice President s fears being ‘tried as a war criminal’

Powell’s long-time aide and chief of staff, Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson told ABC news Cheney, ‘Was president for all practical purposes for the first term of the Bush administration,’ adding, ‘[He] fears being tried as a war criminal.’

The attack comes in the wake of attempts by Cheney to publicise his new book, with Powell accusing the one-time vice president of taking ‘cheap shots’ at the former Bush administration.

According to early reports, Cheney’s forthcoming book breaks with the former administration’s version of events.

But former Secretary of State Powell has dismissed Cheney’s sensational claims as ‘supermarket tabloid’ material designed to ‘pump up sales’.

He brushed off Cheney’s claims that Powell tried to undercut President Bush’s policies in Iraq.

He also dismissed Cheney’s assertion that Powell had stood by while his former deputy leaked the identity of CIA officer Valerie Plame, pointing out that the scandal eventually led to the criminal conviction of Cheney’s former chief of staff Scooter Libby....

The CIA has plans to relocate the headquarters of its domestic division, which is responsible for operations and recruitment in the United States, from the CIA’s Langley headquarters to Denver, a move designed to promote innovation, according to U.S. intelligence and law enforcement officials.

This is interesting news for a variety of reasons…  Mostly conspiratorial reasons, but I find it quite interesting, nonethless.  The entire hub of domestic CIA work is headed towards Denver, and more than likely, will be stationed underneath the expansive Denver International Airport. 

From Langley, Virginia to Denver, Colorado.  I’m pretty sure there are intracontinental military tunnels connecting the two locations, as well as the Denver International Airport to many other places.  Also, similarly strong earthquakes rocked both locations last week.  Do I smell a conspiracy theory brewing?

Alternative media activist David Icke, who has been warning about the false nature of the “Arab Spring” since it began over six months ago, has pointed out an astounding “flashback” regarding an August 3, 1981 Newsweek article titled, “A Plan to Overthrow Kaddafi.”

‘The details of the plan were sketchy, but it seemed to be a classic CIA destabilization campaign. One element was a “disinformation” program designed to embarrass Kaddafi and his government. Another was the creation of a “counter government” to challenge his claim to national leadership. A third — potentially the most risky — was an escalating paramilitary campaign, probably by disaffected Libyan nationals, to blow up bridges, conduct small-scale guerrilla operations and demonstrate that Kaddafi was opposed by an indigenous political force.”

Quite obviously this plan has been executed verbatim with the necessary addition of a NATO intervention to rescue the above stated “paramilitary” campaign from Libyan security forces – a contigency plan explicitly spelled out in another Wall Street-London subsidized, signed confession, Brookings Institution’s “Which Path to Persia?”

Using Military Force to Assist Popular Revolutions, page 109-110 (page 122-123 of the PDF): “Consequently, if the United States ever succeeds in sparking a revolt against the clerical regime, Washington may have to consider whether to provide it with some form of military support to prevent Tehran from crushing it.” “This requirement means that a popular revolution in Iran does not seem to fit the model of the “velvet revolutions” that occurred elsewhere....

The Economist magazine is out with an article entitled “The end of mass media: Coming full circle.” It actually provides us with a kind of sub-dominant social theme – that “social media” take us back to the pamphleteering days of Samuel Johnson, Ben Franklin, Thomas Paine and others.

This has been, in a sense, a message of ours for many years. And here at DB, we’ve regularly compared the output of the Gutenberg Press and its revolutionary influence to the Internet. The Economist is about 10 years late in joining the party.

Even so, I think The Economist is making the wrong comparison and doing it on purpose. Blogs and websites are a far more appropriate comparison to the Gutenberg Press than “social media.”

There is likely a reason that The Economist, a power elite mouthpiece, wants to talk up social media. Here’s the beginning of an article from Global Research written way back in March 2009, when Facebook only had 20 million users but was well on its way to success:

The FBI has not found videotapes from the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing that are being sought by a Utah lawyer and do not believe another records search is reasonable or will uncover the information, the agency has told a federal judge.

FBI officials are “unaware of the existence or likely location of additional tapes”that would fulfill the Freedom of Information Act request filed by Salt Lake City attorney Jesse Trentadue, agency attorneys said in court papers filed last week.

The Central Intelligence Agency often reports interesting tidbits in their online publication, The World Factbook.  A reader sent me a link pointing towards the “current account balance” of all the countries in the world.  The entry records a country’s net trade in goods and services, plus net earnings from rents, interest, profits, and dividends, and net transfer payments (such as pension funds and worker remittances) to and from the rest of the world during the period specified.

Guess who is in the lead?  And guess who it towards the bottom?

China leads the world by a long shot, with Greece, Portugal and other EU countries such as France bringing up the tail-end (hence, the austerity measures, riots, etc).  Of course, as we all guessed it; the United States is in dead last place with a total account deficit of around $561 Billion.  And these are the 2010 figures.  At this rate, we will soon be into the trillions, if not already.  Depending on what part of 2010 these figures are from, it could be close to 18 months old....

Gary Samore, a top Obama administration national security official, warned of new sanctions if North Korea conducted a third round of nuclear tests on Monday, as reports surfaced that North Korea has miniaturized its nuclear warheads so they can be delivered by ballistic missile.

North Korea’s last round of tests, conducted in May 2009, appear to have included a “super-EMP” weapon, capable of emitting enough gamma rays to disable the electric power grid across most of the lower 48 states, says Dr. Peter Vincent Pry, a former CIA nuclear weapons analyst and president of EMPact America, a citizens lobbying group.

Samore, who handles arms control and non-proliferation issues, warned that “additional strong sanctions will be imposed on the North with the support of Russia and China.”

North Korea’s nuclear tests have been dismissed as failures by some analysts because of their low explosive yield. But Dr. Pry believes they bore the “signature” of the Russian-designed “super-EMP” weapon, capable of emitting more gamma radiation than a 25-megaton nuclear weapon.

Pry believes the U.S. intelligence community was expecting North Korea to test a first generation implosion device with an explosive yield of 10 to 20 kilotons, similar to the bomb the U.S....

Undeclared Israeli Nuclear Weapons: CIA Knew In 1974 That Israel Had Nuclear Weapons

Much attention has been placed on Iran and their supposed nuclear weapons program by the United States and Israel.

What isn’t talked about on a regular basis in the corporate controlled media is the fact that Israel has an illegal, undeclared nuclear arsenal.  While many are already aware of the facts regarding the Israeli Nuclear Program, there is an absurd amount of people who still pretend Israel is a sitting duck surrounded by powerful enemies.

Hayden’s Note:

This is a topic that I have brought up time and time again.  Israel is not a helpless victim.  They are a nuclear-armed country with financial backing from the United States.  In fact, they receive more financial and military aid from the United States than any other country in the world.  And they have nukes.  And Israel is not a signatory on the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. 

So, when Israel whines and cries about Iran gaining nuclear capability, I have ZERO sympathy for them.  Or anyone else for that matter.  Iran is a sovereign nation, like it or not, and if Israel, the United States, India, Pakistan, France, the UK, China, etc can have nuclear capability, why can Iran not?  You want to talk about liberty issues?  Fairness?  Sovereign means just that; sovereign.  And this policy of pre-emptively striking countries is absurd and not in line with the Rule of Law, both technically and morally.  Iran is years and years away from having a refined weapon of mass destruction and until that day comes; until they have the intention and capability, you can’t undermine their sovereignty. 

When the designers and engineers of the first atomic weapon described it as “opening Pandora’s box,” they were correct.  We were the first to design and use one and now have to constantly play this juggling act and make sure only certain others acquire the technology and material.  We made this bed and now we get to lie in it.  Sadly, we often DO “lie” about weapons of mass destruction, other nations’ intentions and justify pillaging a country for its resources as “protective, pre-emptive kinetic action, limited in scope and duration.”

Granted, this is my non-interventionist, peaceful-while-still-being-protective opinion. 

The reality is that our government knew, as far back as 1974, that Israel most likely possessed nuclear weapons.  In 2008 the National Security Archive released a once classified CIA document that indicated that Israel already had a stockpile of nuclear weapons in 1974....

Polish state prosecutors are considering bringing charges against members of the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) for their alleged involvement in secret CIA prisons located on Polish soil between 2002-2005. The prisons were allegedly used to torture terrorist suspects from al-Qaeda.

Officials from the leftist SLD government in power at the time, including former Prime Minister Leszek Miller, may be charged with violating Poland’s constitution, helping to illegally imprison a number of people and with participating in crimes against humanity.

How about bringing some of those charges against those actually responsible for it, such as the Bush Regime, the CIA, private “defense” contractors and others?  If the Polish go down in flames for “crimes against humanity” for merely assisting; for simply offering a place for these torture interrogations to take place, what should those responsible for the actual torture be held for?  Sickening.  All of it.  Intelligence is not gained from torture.  It is gained from analyzing reports, interviews, tips, informants, street actions and quality, covert operatives. 

Anyone can bully their way into a country when flanked by M1 Abram tanks and an Air Force, capture random people and torture them until they glean a tiny fraction of knowledge.  But to truly be an investigator, to conduct an intelligence operation while maintaining some semblence of ethical and moral integrity, it takes a lot more skill.  Besides, torture just doesn’t work as well as most think and then you spend your time analyzing all sorts of false and confusing information that you’ve been fed from a half-crazed, tortured street soldier....

Debt is slavery… or at least indentured servitude of the worst kind.  That looming mortgage, the high interest credit card debt, the short-term car loan– these are the forces that keep people from breaking free and taking action.

Ironically, debt begets more debt. According to FinAid, the average US student loan debt for a four-year private university graduate is nearly $36,000, and $24,000 for public. Throw in that first car loan and maybe a mortgage, and suddenly you’re staring at hundreds of thousands of dollars in demoralizing claims on your future income.

At this point, most people figure… ‘hey, I’m already in debt up to my nose, might as well get in up to my eyeballs and buy a new plasma screen on credit.’

Debt is an enormous psychological burden that influences life’s major decisions. It’s why so many people stay committed to jobs that are unfulfilling in cities they detest under conditions they find disheartening. Nobody wants to rock the boat too much… take too many risks and you could lose your job, and hence the ability to make those monthly payments....

In a sensational and explosive TV report, the Pakistani News Agency has provided a live interview with an eye witness to the US attack on the alleged compound of Osama bin Laden. The eye witness, Mohammad Bashir, describes the event as it unfolded. Of the three helicopters, “there was only one that landed the men and came back to pick them up, but as he [the helicopter] was picking them up, it blew away and caught fire.” The witness says that there were no survivors, just dead bodies and pieces of bodies everywhere. “We saw the helicopter burning, we saw the dead bodies, then everything was removed and now there is nothing.”

I always wondered how a helicopter could crash, as the White House reported, without at least producing injuries. Yet, in the original White House story, the SEALs not only survived a 40-minute firefight with al Qaeda, “the most highly trained, most dangerous, most vicious killers on the planet,” without a scratch, but also survived a helicopter crash without a scratch....

Top US government insider Dr. Steve R. Pieczenik, a man who held numerous different influential positions under three different Presidents and still works with the Defense Department, shockingly told The Alex Jones Show yesterday that Osama Bin Laden died in 2001 and that he was prepared to testify in front of a grand jury how a top general told him directly that 9/11 was a false flag inside job.

Pieczenik cannot be dismissed as a “conspiracy theorist”. He served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State under three different administrations, Nixon, Ford and Carter, while also working under Reagan and Bush senior, and still works as a consultant for the Department of Defense. Obama is set to announce leadership changes in his Administration. According to anonymous officials Afghan commanding general David Petraeus will move to the CIA and current CIA Director Leon Panetta will take the helm at the Pentagon.

Since current Pentagon chief Department of Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced he would be leaving his post, many have speculated on who might replace him. At one point in time Petraeus was often mentioned as a top pick.

The White House however has decided to replace Roberts with Panetta and move Petraeus from Afghanistan and the military to the CIA. Replacing Petraeus will be Lieutenant General John Allen, who once commanded troops in Iraq. Allen is currently the deputy commander of US Central Command. (US CENTCOM)

The shift puts a loyal Obama ally, Panetta, in charge of the Pentagon and places a man with strong bipartisan approval at the helm of the CIA.

The official change over in titles and duties is expected to occur over the summer.

Is this the sort of ‘Hope & Change’ we were led to believe in?  I never was an Obama supporter, but I wasn’t a Bush fan, either.  The tango-foot-shuffle that’s going on is merely cosmetic.  It’s a different face on the same war machine.  And it further militarizes our CIA – who is already a defacto front-line military force with a remote controlled Predator Air Force at it’s disposal....

When presidents are writing editorials in newspapers a hard-sell is just around the corner. Judging by the recent tripartite op-ed in the New York Times by Obama, Sarkozy, and Cameron regarding Libya, the hard-sell is most likely a protracted air campaign above Libya with an ever increasing ground presence below possibly leading to an all out invasion. Clearly the operation in Libya will exceed the “days or weeks, but not months” we were told it would take.

Predictably the UNSC r.1973 mandate of “protecting civilians” has “mission crept” into providing air cover for armed militants as they fight towards Tripoli – militants now openly proclaiming their allegiance to Al Qaeda. The CIA and MI6 are also admittedly on the ground assisting the rebels and attempting to bring down Qaddafi’s regime – violating entirely the contrived UNSC r.1973 that defined the intervention in the first place. Further violations come in the form of US calls to arm the rebels and allowing arms to flow into eastern Libya from Egypt....

The Central Intelligence Agency has no plans to suspend “operations” in Pakistan against terror suspects despite objections from leaders in Islamabad, a US official said Thursday.

Pakistan has criticized missile strikes by US drone aircraft against Islamist militants in the country but CIA Director Leon Panetta has told intelligence officials that he has a duty to prevent attacks on the United States, the senior official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told AFP.

“Panetta has been clear with his Pakistani counterparts that his fundamental responsibility is to protect the American people, and he will not halt operations that support that objective,” the official said.

The CIA chief on Monday held several hours of talks at the agency’s headquarters outside Washington with Lieutenant General Ahmad Shuja Pasha, the head of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agency.

A U.S. intelligence source has confirmed the presence of CIA operations in Libya. What does an operation like this look like and what does it mean for the U.S.?  Michael Scheuer, former CIA Counterterrorism Analyst who headed CIA’s Bin Laden Unit, says the U.S. should not have gone into Libya.

Michael Scheur not only says Libya was none of our business, he lays into the “infobabes” and lets them have it towards the end of this interview.  He discusses the false left/right paradigm briefly and then gets booted off the air.   We need more intelligence analysts and former CIA like this guy speaking publicly.  Maybe then, some of the RHINO-types and traditional war-mongering conservatives can hear it from a “reputable source” and understand that this “war effort” is wrong, that the media is lying to you and all of these things are being done in step with a pre-written end game blueprint.
