“Alone in the Wilderness” is the story of Dick Proenneke, living in the Alaska wilderness in 1968. He filmed his adventures and day-to-day life using an 8mm camera and tripod. The footage, along with the contents of his journals, were put together in a fascinating documentary.

I watched the entire thing and I couldn’t help but think, “This guy has the solution.” Although it is nearly impossible for most of us to replicate what he did, his lifestyle is certainly an ideal we should all tend to. Free from the bonds of materialism, debts, and mass media indoctrination, watching this tough old man appreciating nature and just doing what he has to do to stay alive is a vivid reminder that all of the rest is just a mere illusion.

Lulu is a single mom who had gone back to school and didn’t have the time nor interest in working full-time just to pay the rent.  So when she had to move out of her more conventional home, she decided to move herself and her daughter into a shipping container!

With little building experience, Lulu spent just one month cutting windows and a doorway into the container, along with installing foam board insulation and a basic kitchen (complete with propane-powered campstove and an on-demand water heater).

After she and her daughter moved into the cozy 8′ by 20′ foot home, she fitted it with a bed, couch, bookshelf, and even managed to get some kitchen cabinets into the 160 square foot box.

When Lulu decided they needed a bit more space, she went from shipping containers to trucking trailers and began to build their new bedroom addition on a used flatbed trailer....

Televised congressional hearings often serve as a platform for members of Congress to berate, bloviate and showboat for the cameras, but at a House Natural Resources Committee hearing Tuesday, historian Douglas Brinkley wouldn’t stand for it.

“You just be quiet,” Alaskan Representative Young demanded.

“You don’t own me,” Brinkley shot back. “I pay your salary!”

Washington Republican Rep. Doc Hastings, the chairman of the committee, tried to break it up, but then Brinkley interrupted him.

“I work for the private sector,” Brinkley said.

When the chairman returned the floor to Young, the rumble began anew.

“We’re the ones who ask the questions, and you’re the one who answers the questions,” Young said. “Boy I’m really pissed right now.”

Peter Schiff, CEO and Chief Global Strategist of Euro Pacific Capital Inc., went to Zuccotti Park and took on Occupy Wall Street protesters and MRCTV caught some of the action.

Note to the Socialist and Collectivist members (those who believe in wealth redistribution and condemn private property rights) of the Occupy Movement: If you’re going to try and debate someone as like Peter Schiff on economic matters, arrive with more than recitations and talking points and please, please have a better response than simply, “…repeal the Bush tax cuts!” for every single question.

(Schiff can hardly get a word in at times.)

I posted this on the TruthisTreason.net Facebook page, but figured I’d make an actual article out of it since it was so well received.

In this video, Adam Kokesh (Formally the host of RT’s Adam vs. The Man) interviews the leader of Food, Not Bombs regarding the Parks Service harassing him for giving away free apples to nearby protesters.  They informed him this was against the law.  However, if he were giving away oranges or bananas, it would be fine.  An interesting bit towards the end is when the leader reveals that his grandfather had actually been a senior Parks Service member and had been responsible for securing the tract of land that was later turned into that particular National Park....

Nigel Farage just doesn’t get any better than this.  He continually lays into global leaders and fellow European council members. He doesn’t hold back and it’s refreshing to hear him speak.

Nigel Farage, while a bit eccentric in his choice of suit colors, is an outspoken and often humorous British politician.  He is the leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP), a position he previously held from September 2006 to November 2009. He is a current Member of the European Parliament for South East England.

Short and sweet.  During the FOX / Google GOP Debate, Ron Paul is asked what he would do as President in order to restore and assist the 10th Amendment.

“There’s growing concern among Americans about the size and scope of the federal government and it’s infringement upon state and individual rights. If you’re elected president, how do you plan to restore the 10th Amendment, hold the federal government only to those enumerated powers in the Constitution, and allow states to govern themselves.”

His answer?  Veto everything that violates the Constitution.  I was a bit shocked to see how well the crowd received his response.

And here are all of Congressman Ron Paul’s answers condensed into 7 minutes. Yes, that’s all he the time he was afforded to speak once again, however, the polls show he still emerged as the debate winner.

The Ayn Rand Institute held its annual “Atlas Shrugged Revolution” dinner Thursday night in New York City.

In attendance were a number of financial luminaries and hedge fund managers, including Peter Schiff of EuroPacific Capital, John Tamny of RealClearMarkets, Dmitry Balyasny of Balyasny Asset Management and Scott Schweighauser of Aurora Investment Management.

The setting was the tony St. Regis Hotel on Fifth Avenue but there was nothing pleasant about the primary message coming from both the speakers and those in attendance: Western civilization is heading for hell and a hand basket, just like Rand predicted in her seminal novel.

In the accompanying video, ARI president Yaron Brook tells Henry why Rand’s devotees believe the global economy is “heading for collapse.”

Republican Presidential Candidate Rep. Ron Paul was booed at last night’s CNN/Tea Party debate while explaining his view on why America was attacked on September 11, 2001.

During the debate, the Texas congressman was asked if he planned to decrease defense spending to balance the budget.

Paul agreed that there is waste to cut, specifically dealing with outdated technology. However he said that a lot more money could be saved if America embraced a policy of non-intervention. He added that the United States is in 130 countries and has 900 bases around the world, and added that “we’re broke.”

Paul then went a step forward, criticizing America’s global presence, especially in the Middle East, as being a catalyst for terrorism.

“We have to be honest with ourselves. What would we do if another country, say, China, did to us what we do to all those countries over there?” Paul asked.

His view of foreign non-intervention received applause from the audience. It was also the subject of his latest Texas Straight Talk column marking the anniversary of 9/11....

Department of Homeland Security lost their own explosives during a terror drill at the Phoenix Skyharbor Airport.

Missing are two 1/2 lb. sticks of a conventional explosive, typically used for mining operations.  The explosives were packed in a small Igloo-type cooler bag and were last seen in the public area of the airport.  Authorities have reviewed surveillance footage, but apparently, have had little luck in tracking down the explosives or who took them.

Just because you hold the deed to a piece of land doesn’t mean that you own it.  These days, we are faced with an ever- increasing presence and implementation of the United Nations Agenda 21 plan and eminent domain laws.  If you become a political target on any number of levels, various tax laws can be used against you in order to strip you of your real estate, your homestead and your dreams.  Nuisance laws and municipal code enforcement can penalize you to the point of bankruptcy or forfeiture of your house.

Something so basic as private property laws have become a playground for government lawyers and aspiring politicians, where they perverse the common definitions and commit blatant theft in the name of “beautification projects,” new highways, strip malls and to appease some arbitrary, obscure law.

Just because something is written into legislation doesn’t mean that it’s legal, moral, ethical or Constitutional.  Hopefully people will begin to get angry enough to start doing something about this.  Perhaps it will take another Ruby Ridge for this topic to be brought back into the mainstream....

I beg to differ.  Gold has been a form of money – if not one of THE most popular forms – for thousands of years, along with livestock, other precious metals and durable goods.  Gold isn’t money?  Then what is money?

Princeton defines money as “the official currency issued by a government or national bank.”

However, Thomas Greco defined money as:

“Money is anything that is generally accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts. The main functions of money are distinguished as: a medium of exchange, a unit of account, a store of value, and occasionally, a standard of deferred payment.”

The Google dictionary defines it as “The assets, property, and resources owned by someone or something; wealth” or “financial gain.”

Okay, this is just getting ridiculous. A few weeks back, we noted that Senators Amy Klobuchar, John Cornyn and Christopher Coons had proposed a new bill that was designed to make “streaming” infringing material a felony. At the time, the actual text of the bill wasn’t available, but we assumed, naturally, that it would just extend “public performance” rights to section 506a of the Copyright Act.

Supporters of this bill claim that all it’s really doing is harmonizing US copyright law’s civil and criminal sections. After all, the rights afforded under copyright law in civil cases cover a list of rights: reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works or perform the work. The rules for criminal infringement only cover reproducing and distributing — but not performing. So, supporters claim, all this does is “harmonize” copyright law and bring the criminal side into line with the civil side by adding “performance rights” to the list of things.

If only it were that simple. But, of course, it’s not. First of all, despite claims to the contrary, there’s a damn good reason why Congress did not include performance rights as a criminal/felony issue: because who would have thought that it would be a criminal act to perform a work without permission?...
