What IS Money? Fed Chairman Bernanke says, “Gold isn’t Money”

Posted on Jul 13, 2011 in Economic News, Federal Reserve & Bankers – Kevin Hayden

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke faced off with economic genius Representative Ron Paul during his monetary policy report to Congress on Wednesday.  The head of the Fed was forced to respond to accusations of enriching already rich corporations while failing to help Main Street, while he was pushed on his views on gold.

“Gold isn’t money,” Bernanke said.

in part from

Hayden’s Note:

I beg to differ.  Gold has been a form of money – if not one of THE most popular forms – for thousands of years, along with livestock, other precious metals and durable goods.  Gold isn’t money?  Then what is money?

Princeton defines money as “the official currency issued by a government or national bank.”

However, Thomas Greco defined money as:

“Money is anything that is generally accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts. The main functions of money are distinguished as: a medium of exchange, a unit of account, a store of value, and occasionally, a standard of deferred payment.”

The Google dictionary defines it as “The assets, property, and resources owned by someone or something; wealth” or “financial gain.” states the following in regards to “money” –

Former State Dept Employee and Senior Reagan Advisor Talks Skull & Bones, Illuminati Agenda

Charlotte Thomson Iserbyt is an American freelance writer, former Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of Educational Research and Improvement (OERI), U.S. Department of Education during the first term of U.S. President Ronald Reagan, and staff employee of the US State Department (South Africa, Belgium, South Korea).[1][2] She was born circa 1930. Her father and grandfather were Yale University graduates and members of the Skull and Bones secret society.

She is known for writing the book The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America that itemizes changes gradually brought into the American public education system that attempt to both eliminate the influences of a child’s parents (religion, morals, national patriotism), and mold the child into a member of the proletariat supposedly in preparation for a socialist-collectivist world of the future. She documents the changes (as originating from the plans formulated primarily by the Andrew Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Education, Rockefeller General Education Board), and the psychological methods used to implement and effect the changes....

Senate Bill 978 Seeks to Make “Infringing” YouTube Videos a Felony, Silencing the Alternative Media Thumbnail

Senate Bill 978 Seeks to Make “Infringing” YouTube Videos a Felony, Silencing the Alternative Media

Posted on Jun 03, 2011 in Social Networking – Kevin Hayden

Okay, this is just getting ridiculous. A few weeks back, we noted that Senators Amy Klobuchar, John Cornyn and Christopher Coons had proposed a new bill that was designed to make “streaming” infringing material a felony. At the time, the actual text of the bill wasn’t available, but we assumed, naturally, that it would just extend “public performance” rights to section 506a of the Copyright Act.

Supporters of this bill claim that all it’s really doing is harmonizing US copyright law’s civil and criminal sections. After all, the rights afforded under copyright law in civil cases cover a list of rights: reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works or perform the work. The rules for criminal infringement only cover reproducing and distributing — but not performing. So, supporters claim, all this does is “harmonize” copyright law and bring the criminal side into line with the civil side by adding “performance rights” to the list of things.

If only it were that simple. But, of course, it’s not. First of all, despite claims to the contrary, there’s a damn good reason why Congress did not include performance rights as a criminal/felony issue: because who would have thought that it would be a criminal act to perform a work without permission?...

How Wind Turbines Work Thumbnail

How Wind Turbines Work

Posted on Jun 02, 2011 in Alt Energy, Tiny Homes, & Structures – Kevin Hayden

Wind is a form of solar energy. Winds are caused by the uneven heating of the atmosphere by the sun, the irregularities of the earth’s surface, and rotation of the earth. Wind flow patterns are modified by the earth’s terrain, bodies of water, and vegetation. Humans use this wind flow, or motion energy, for many purposes: sailing, flying a kite, and even generating electricity.

The terms wind energy or wind power describe the process by which the wind is used to generate mechanical power or electricity. Wind turbines convert the kinetic energy in the wind into mechanical power. This mechanical power can be used for specific tasks (such as grinding grain or pumping water) or a generator can convert this mechanical power into electricity.

So how do wind turbines make electricity?  Simply stated, a wind turbine works the opposite of a fan. Instead of using electricity to make wind, like a fan, wind turbines use wind to make electricity. The wind turns the blades, which spin a shaft, which connects to a generator and makes electricity....

Ron Paul on G4 TV: The Internet, Censorship and Freedom of Expression

Posted on May 23, 2011 in Constitutional & Liberty Issues, Political Issues – Kevin Hayden

Source: YouTube & G4 TV

Ron Paul talks to G4 TV back in 2007 regarding the power of the Internet, censorship and personal freedoms. This is a great interview that was not widely circulated, therefore I thought it sensible to rekindle the conversation as we approach the next election.  If you’ve not researched what Ron Paul is all about, I urge you to watch several more YouTube videos of his debates and opinions.  I think that you’ll find him to be the only prudent candidate worthy of the Office of the President.

Ron Paul is a Texas congressman, current Doctor and an expert on economic issues.  The mainstream media love to interview him for his insightful commentary on the economy, Federal Reserve and more, but then blacklist him from debates, polls and Presidential exposure.  How very sad.  He’s too big of a threat to the corporate status quo, apparently.

Hayden’s Disclosure:

I volunteered and worked on Ron Paul’s 2008 Presidential Campaign, voted for him and will do so again in the 2012 campaign.

The Extended Confessions of an Economic Hitman

Posted on May 20, 2011 in Economic News – Kevin Hayden

Source: Zero Hedge

The book “Confessions of an Economic Hit Man” by John Perkins is easily one of the most engrossing pieces of non-fiction one can read to learn about the true drivers behind globalization, espionage, corporate cronyism, the emergence of such “artificial” organizations as the World Bank and the IMF, and most importantly, debt “enslavement”, all as seen from an insider’s view. It explains in simple words why over the past 40 years the developing world paradigm has been exploited as heavily as it has, why the BRIC concept was instrumental as a Red Herring to perpetuating the myth of endless growth, and why credit must always flow no matter what to keep the status quo in power. For those who have read the book, and for those who are on the fence about reading it, below we present the three part presentation by John Perkins at the 2006 Veterans for Peace National Convention in which he expounds on all the key ideas in his book, and does an extended Q&A covering topics not discussed previously....

An intrepid Japanese duo has decided to do the reverse Fukushima commute and in a stunning filmed expose, drive through cracked roads, herds of animals in city streets and ghost towns to measure the radiation from 30 km out to 1.5 km away from Fukushima, where it hits 112 microsieverts, or roughly 350 times normal radiation. But don’t worry. Everything is still under the recently updgraded (twice) legal limit…. for those clad in lead armor.

CIA Intel Analyst Blasts US Foreign Policy, Libya; Slams CNN Infobabes

Posted on Apr 04, 2011 in Police, Military, & War – Kevin Hayden

Source: CNN

A U.S. intelligence source has confirmed the presence of CIA operations in Libya. What does an operation like this look like and what does it mean for the U.S.?  Michael Scheuer, former CIA Counterterrorism Analyst who headed CIA’s Bin Laden Unit, says the U.S. should not have gone into Libya.

Hayden’s Note:

Michael Scheur not only says Libya was none of our business, he lays into the “infobabes” and lets them have it towards the end of this interview.  He discusses the false left/right paradigm briefly and then gets booted off the air.   We need more intelligence analysts and former CIA like this guy speaking publicly.  Maybe then, some of the RHINO-types and traditional war-mongering conservatives can hear it from a “reputable source” and understand that this “war effort” is wrong, that the media is lying to you and all of these things are being done in step with a pre-written end game blueprint.

US Orders Media Silence on Bahrain’s Current Regime Crackdown and Violence

Posted on Apr 01, 2011 in Featured Articles, Police, Military, & War – Kevin Hayden

Source: Press TV

President of Bahrain’s Center for Human Rights Nabeel Rajab says the US media have been ordered not to cover news on the government’s brutal crackdown on Bahraini people.

Reports from the Center’s colleagues in the United States say “In the US some news agencies and TV stations were asked not to report on Bahrain and not to embarrass [President Barack Obama’s administration,” Rajab told Press TV.

He went on to say that the US and the Western governments have chosen to keep silent over ongoing atrocities in Bahrain due to their support for the country’s authoritarian regime.

According to unconfirmed reports, over 420 people have been arrested during ongoing protests in the kingdom, Rajab pointed out.

The Bahraini protesters continue to demand the ouster of the 200-year-old-plus monarchy as well as constitutional reforms.

At least 25 people have been killed and about 1,000 others injured during the government-sanctioned crackdowns on peaceful demonstrators.

Joined recently by police units and troops from Saudi and the United Arab Emirates, the Bahraini government forces have launched a deadly crackdown on the popular revolution that began to sweep the Persian Gulf island on February 14....

Wal-Mart CEO to America: “Prepare for Serious Inflation”

Posted on Mar 31, 2011 in Economic News – Kevin Hayden

Source: Zero Hedge

To those who think that buying food in the corner deli is becoming a luxury, we have five words: you ain’t seen nuthin’ yet. U.S. consumers face “serious” inflation in the months ahead for clothing, food and other products, the head of Wal-Mart’s U.S. operations warned Wednesday talking to USA Today. And if Wal-Mart which is at the very bottom of commoditized consumer retail, and at the very peak of avoiding re-exporting of US inflation by way of China is concerned, it may be time to panic, or at least cancel those plane tickets to Zimbabwe, which is soon coming to us.

The world’s largest retailer is working with suppliers to minimize the effect of cost increases and believes its low-cost business model will position it better than its competitors.

Still, inflation is “going to be serious,” Wal-Mart U.S. CEO Bill Simon said during a meeting with USA TODAY’s editorial board. “We’re seeing cost increases starting to come through at a pretty rapid rate.”

Along with steep increases in raw material costs, John Long, a retail strategist at Kurt Salmon, says labor costs in China and fuel costs for transportation are weighing heavily on retailers.
