Via Crypotogon Editorial Notes: See Fiber Optic Cables Cut in California (2009) for commentary that applies here as well. They called that one vandalism, as well. Oh, sure.

On the morning of April 16th, 2013, a coordinated team of snipers cut phone lines and took out 17 power transformers at a Pacific Gas & Electric substation south of San Jose, CA, causing a near blackout throughout Silicon Valley. According to the former chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, it was the “most significant incident of domestic terrorism” involving the nation’s power grid. No one has been charged or arrested in the attack and the FBI is “continuing to sift through the evidence.”

The Wall Street Journal broke news of the attack today, piecing together a timeline of events that unfolded in the middle of the night, just yards from Highway 101:

The attack began just before 01:00 AM, when someone slipped into an underground vault not far from a busy freeway and cut telephone cables.

Within half an hour, snipers opened fire on a nearby electrical substation.

Hayden’s Note: Bitcoins, the FBI, and Tangible Goods

Who owns the single largest Bitcoin wallet on the internet? The U.S. government.

In September, the FBI shut down the Silk Road online drug marketplace, and it started seizing bitcoins belonging to the Dread Pirate Roberts — the operator of the illicit online marketplace, who they say is an American man named Ross Ulbricht.

The FBI now controls more than 144,000 bitcoins that reside at a bitcoin address that consolidates much of the seized Silk Road bitcoins. Those 144,000 bitcoins are worth close to $100 million at Tuesday’s exchange rates. Another address, containing Silk Road funds seized earlier by the FBI, contains nearly 30,000 bitcoins ($20 million).

Hayden’s Note:

I’ve had email after email asking for my opinion on Bitcoin and if readers should invest in the digital currency. In it’s early days, I mined for some Bitcoin myself. As time went on, I read more and more about the likelihood that Bitcoin was merely a law enforcement or intelligence honeypot and I continue to believe that.

There is also speculation that various intel agencies use the currency in order to launder their own money in order to fund clandestine operations.

Two members of the FBI’s elite counterterrorism and hostage rescue team died Friday while practicing how to quickly drop from a helicopter to a ship using a rope (fast roping), the FBI announced Monday in a statement. The statement gave few details regarding the deaths of Special Agents Christopher Lorek and Stephen Shaw, other than to indicate the helicopter encountered unspecified difficulties and the agents fell a “significant distance.”

Last month, the team was involved in the arrest of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings.

In closely related news, via Wired:

An FBI agent shot and killed an Orlando man and former mixed-martial arts fighter believed to be tied to Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the deceased Boston Marathon bombing suspect. Ibragim Todashev allegedly confessed to being involved in the murder of three people just before he was shot to death today by the FBI, sources told NBC News.

During a post-midnight interview with Ibragim Todashev at his apartment, an FBI agent shot Todashev. An interview with Todashev about his connections to Tsarnaev began peacefully, with Todashev reportedly cooperating, before taking a fatal turn for unclear reasons....

Ray Nagin, former New Orleans mayor and the public face of the battered city in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, has been indicted by a grand jury on 21 federal corruption charges.

Hayden’s Note:

Let’s just file this under, “….duh!”  There are a slew of New Orleans government officials and police officers who should face a grand jury inquiry.  It was only a matter of time until Mayor Ray Nagin was caught.  But, for those of you who don’t live in New Orleans, or don’t understand the depth of the corruption and depravity down there, this is par for the course.  This comes as no surprise to anyone who understands how NOLA operates, which is saddening, because there is no other place quite like it.  New Orleans is an amazing, magical place in so many ways, but the mindset, and the “way we do things” down there distorts it into a large-scale ghetto, full of the worst that mankind can offer one another.  I will always consider it my former home, but there truly is no way to turn it into the place it should and could be.

FBI Foil Own Terror Plot, Again – This Time at Federal Reserve

Posted on Oct 17, 2012 in Alphabet Agencies & Operations, Constitutional & Liberty Issues, Federal Reserve & Bankers, Political Issues

Kevin Hayden –

Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation are giving each other high-fives tonight after arresting a 21 year-old man in a federal sting designed to entrap “terrorists.”  In reality, they found a young man with little self-esteem, dreams of grandeur and martyrdom, and then led him to the New York Federal Reserve with a 1,000 lb. fake bomb.

Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis, 21, was arrested in downtown Manhattan after he attempted to detonate what he believed to be a 1,000-pound bomb that the Feds gave him at the New York Federal Reserve Bank on Liberty Street in lower Manhattan’s financial district.

Agents set up a sting [and] say the suspect parked a van that he thought was filled with explosives at the Federal Reserve.

He then tried to set the bomb off with a cell phone call made from the Millennium Hotel, across from the World Trade Center. – ABC

Once the attempt to detonate the bomb was made, the FBI swooped in and arrested the “terrorist” that they created.  We’ve seen this time and time again, and nothing has changed with the storyline since the last 14 Fed-created Terrorists were “foiled.”  I’m sure the agents involved in this amazing arrest are buying each other rounds at a local pub, recalling the miraculous job they did at keeping the Homeland safe from terrorism....

DOJ Guilty of Supplying Drug Cartels with Guns, But Not Eric Holder

The US Justice Department has finished their probe of the “Fast and Furious” gunrunning program that moved thousands of illegal firearms between the United States and Mexico, clearing Attorney General Eric Holder in the process.

Although Holder has been let off the hook by the Justice Department over the highly criticized program, the DoJ has determined that at least 14 other officials from across the United States were at fault in overseeing the flawed operation.

Hayden’s Note:

What a sad day for true Justice.  Eric Holder needs to be held accountable for this Operation, as he was talking about it back in 2009.  He was debriefed; he was aware.  And he should be named in a civil suit by the families of the Border Patrol agents slain by these weapons.  But as usual, only the underlings are sacrificed.

This was not an attempt to “track” weapons. That is an absurd claim.  This, instead, was a blatant attempt to arm certain cartels in order to shift the balance in Mexico for a more favorable American agenda.

Update:  “A judge said today [08.23.12] he will order the release of a Marine Corps veteran…Circuit Judge W. Allan Sharrett said an involuntary commitment order issued against Brandon J. Raub was invalid because it contained no allegation or basis to holding him.”

The Rutherford Institute has come to the defense of a former Marine, 26-year-old Brandon Raub, who was arrested, detained indefinitely in a psych ward, and forced to undergo psychological evaluations based solely on the controversial nature of lines from song lyrics, political messages, and virtual card games which he posted to his private Facebook page. Although the FBI and Chesterfield County police have not charged Brandon Raub with committing any crime, they arrested him on Thursday, August 16, 2012, and transported him to John Randolph Medical Center, where he is being held against his will due to concerns that his Facebook posts were controversial and “terrorist in nature.”

Hayden’s Note:

While I understand their reasoning for using the defense that his Facebook comments were taken out of context, or were merely song lyrics, I am dismayed that it is likely their focal point in his defense.

Homeland Security Report Lists ‘Liberty Lovers’ as Extreme Domestic Terrorists

Posted on Jul 04, 2012 in Alphabet Agencies & Operations, Constitutional & Liberty Issues, Police, Military, & War, Political Issues

Kevin Hayden –

Source: Paul Joseph Watson

A new study funded by the Department of Homeland Security characterizes Americans who are “suspicious of centralized federal authority,” and “reverent of individual liberty” as “extreme right-wing” terrorists.

Entitled Hot Spots of Terrorism and Other Crimes in the United States, 1970-2008 (PDF), the study was produced by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism at the University of Maryland. The organization was launched with the aid of DHS funding to the tune of $12 million dollars.

The report takes its definitions from a 2011 study entitled Profiles of Perpetrators of Terrorism, produced by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism, in which the following characteristics are used to identify terrorists.

– Americans who believe their “way of life” is under attack;

– Americans who are “fiercely nationalistic (as opposed to universal and international in orientation)”;

– People who consider themselves “anti-global” (presumably those who are wary of the loss of American sovereignty);

– Americans who are “suspicious of centralized federal authority”;

– Americans who are “reverent of individual liberty”;

– People who “believe in conspiracy theories that involve grave threat to national sovereignty and/or personal liberty.”

The report also lists people opposed to abortion and “groups that seek to smite the purported enemies of God and other evildoers” as terrorists....

FBI Prevents Another of Their Own Terror Plots – Shaquille Azir and the Occupiers

Posted on May 03, 2012 in Alphabet Agencies & Operations, Blog, Editorials, & Thoughts, Police, Military, & War

Kevin Hayden –

Source: TechDirt – Editorial by Kevin Hayden

We’ve discussed this a few times in the past, but the FBI’s main counter-terrorism initiative these days appears to be centered around creating its own terrorist plots to thwart. First, they find clueless, easily manipulated people, who have no actual connections with terrorists. Then, they concoct entire terrorism plots, where every other person is an FBI agent, and any tools, “weapons” and money are supplied by the FBI. Finally, they “bust” the guy just before he carries out the plot that never would have happened anyway. We see this pattern again and again — and each time the press uncritically hypes up how the FBI successfully stopped a real “homegrown” terrorist.

Of course, it’s happened once again, and the basic plotlines are identical to ones in the past. And, of course, the press is describing it like it was an actual terrorist plot, pretending that people was actually at risk.

Hayden’s Note:

In the FBI’s latest screenplay, they would have you believe that a 6’5, 350 lb. black man named Shaquille Azir approached a group of five motley Occupy protesters – who are self-described anarchists – and talk them into bombing a bridge with C-4 explosives.

ATF, Obama, Fast and Furious: Don’t Care if Grenades Explode and Kill

Posted on May 03, 2012 in Alphabet Agencies & Operations, Police, Military, & War, Political Issues

Source: Daily Caller

In a shocking development in the Operation Fast and Furious investigation, documents show Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents allowed grenade parts to walk into Mexico in addition to guns.

The emails also show Obama administration officials acknowledging that they may lose track of grenades but would still be able to accomplish their original objective even if the grenades explode.

“Even in a post blast, as long as the safety lever is recovered we will be able to identify these tagged grenades,” an official wrote in one email.

According to an internal email that was provided to Congress by the Department of Justice and first reported by CBS News’ Sharyl Attkisson — who’s been the media’s most dogged reporter in tracking down facts on Fast and Furious – ATF began watching accused smuggler Jean Baptiste Kingery’s AK-47 purchases in 2004. In the 2009 internal ATF email, Obama administration officials admitted they believed Kingery was “trafficking them into Mexico.”

The 2009 email shows the ATF officials had then become aware of Kingery’s alleged grenade trafficking....

FBI Excuses for Missing Oklahoma City Bombing Tapes Not Credible, Judge Says

Posted on Mar 27, 2012 in Alphabet Agencies & Operations, Constitutional & Liberty Issues

Kevin Hayden –

Source: Deseret News

A federal judge on Wednesday continued to question the FBI’s explanation for not producing videotapes associated with the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing that a Salt Lake lawyer has sought for nearly six years.

“It’s quite astounding that documents as important as these went missing and the FBI says, ‘Well, they’re gone,'” U.S. District Judge Clark Waddoups said during a motion hearing.

At issue is whether the FBI adequately responded to Jesse Trentadue’s Freedom of Information Act request for footage of Timothy McVeigh parking a truckload of explosives at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building on April 19, 1995. Specifically, the Salt Lake attorney is after a building surveillance tape and dashcam video from the Oklahoma state trooper who stopped McVeigh 90 minutes after the explosion that killed 168 people.

The FBI has submitted several declarations from its top records manager to show the agency has searched electronic databases and evidence warehouses without success. But Waddoups said the declarations lack credibility because they do not include firsthand knowledge or details about who, when, where or how the searches were conducted....

More FBI Terrorism: LulzSec Leader Works for the Bureau

Posted on Mar 06, 2012 in Alphabet Agencies & Operations

Kevin Hayden –

The establishment media has characterized the leader of LulzSec ratting out his hacktivist comrades as betrayal, but the incident reveals something far more sinister – government is responsible for creating and unleashing computer hacker groups.

Hector Xavier Monsegur, said to be the leader of LulzSec, worked for the FBI, according to news reports. He was reportedly arrested in Puerto Rico last June and then began working with the FBI.  Monsequr, aka Sabu, decided what targets to attack and who would participate in the attacks at the direction of this FBI handlers.  – Source: Kurt Nimmo

Hayden’s Note:

Yet again, the mainstream media and government confirm what I’ve said for a long time: large parts of ‘Anonymous’ and similar groups are operated, directed, or wholly infiltrated by government informants and agents.  The fear-mongering surrounding Anon and the danger they pose, along with the legislation being written behind closed doors, such as SOPA, Protect IP, and similar, are a direct, pre-determined “solution” to a “problem” the government has created or bolstered in order to fulfill their agenda.

This is very similar to what happened in Libya, what’s going on in Syria, and even 9/11.  ...

According to New DHS Report, If You Love “Individual Liberty” or “Question Government,” You are a Potential Terrorist

Do you love America?  Are you against a one world economy and a one world government?  Do you deeply love individual liberty?  Do you believe in conspiracy theories?  If you answered any of those questions affirmatively, then you are a potential terrorist according to a brand new Department of Homeland Security report that was just released in January 2012.

The report is entitled “Hot Spots of Terrorism and Other Crimes in the United States, 1970 to 2008” was produced by the “National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism” for the Department of Homeland Security.

As you will see detailed later on in this article, the most shocking part of this report is when it discusses the “ideological motivations” of potential terrorists.  The report shamelessly attempts to portray red-blooded Americans that love liberty and that love their country as the enemy.  Once upon a time, deeply patriotic Americans were considered to be the backbone of America, but today they are considered to be potential terrorists.

And this report is yet another example of how the definition of “terrorism” has changed. ...

FBI Created Fake Company, Hired Lobbyists in Order to Investigate Oklahoma Legislature

Kevin Hayden –

Source: McCarville Report

The Oklahoman’s investigative team (the state newspaper) is out with a story in the Sunday edition that details how the FBI formed a fake company in Georgia, used undercover agents, and hired lobbyist Andrew Skeith in an investigation of the Oklahoma Legislature. (!)

The investigation, apparently, produced no results.

Nolan Clay and Robby Trammell report the company was formed in 2008.  The company, Road Safety International LLC, allegedly produced highway safety products.

Hayden’s Note:

I will stay with this story and provide any updates as I discover them. This is a disturbing headline for two reasons.  First, I find it amazing that the Department of Justice went to such elaborate ends to form a front-company in order to possibly entrap Oklahoma Congressmen into conducting unethical or illegal acts, and secondly, that the FBI had enough probable cause reasonable suspicion to conduct this sting in the first place.

Either way, you have an over-bearing Federal Executive Brach that is using the paramilitary police state to investigate a State’s Legislative Branch or merely a true, corrupt Congress. ...
