Justice Department Logic: Ben Bernanke is a Domestic Terrorist

Posted on Mar 21, 2011 in Economic News, Federal Reserve & Bankers – Kevin Hayden

The United States Department of Justice delivered a very clear and unfortunate message on Friday:

“Attempts to undermine the legitimate currency of this country are simply a unique form of domestic terrorism.  While these forms of anti-government activities do not involve violence, they are every bit as insidious and represent a clear and present danger to the economic stability of this country.”

These remarks were released by the US Attorney’s office in the western district of North Carolina following the conviction of one Bernard von NotHaus, the creator of the ill-fated Liberty Dollar.

As you likely recall from a few years ago, Liberty Dollars were privately minted gold and silver rounds. Paper certificates, akin to warehouse receipts were also issued, effectively giving the bearer a right to claim a certain amount of gold or silver at the group’s warehouse in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

This is traditionally how the system of money used to function– precious metals would be stored in private, secure storage facilities, and paper certificates were issued as a medium of exchange that entitled the bearer to redeem metal from the vault. ...

Former FBI Informant with 9/11 Ties Runs Down El Paso Cop with Car

Posted on Mar 07, 2011 in Alphabet Agencies & Operations

A former undercover FBI informant who once told ABC News he could’ve stopped the Sept. 11 attacks is in custody in El Paso, Texas, after he allegedly tried to run over a police officer.

On Thursday, El paso police attempted to pull over Elie Assaad for speeding, according to an officer’s complaint. Assaad allegedly refused to stop and instead led the police officer on a chase that ended up racing through University of Texas El Paso campus.

Eventually, Assaad did stop, but when the officer got out of his vehicle to approach Assaad’s car, Assaad rammed him before taking off again as the officer opened fire on the car, El Paso police spokesman Darrel Petry told ABC News.

The chase only ended when Assaad flipped his vehicle on a nearby street. He was apprehended shortly afterwards.

Assaad, 38, has been charged with assaulting the officer, but Petry said police do not know why Assaad fled in the first place. No illicit materials were reportedly found in the car. At some point during the chase, a woman got out of Assaad’s car and ran away on foot, Petry said....

The federal government attempted in 2005 to reach a deal with bomber Terry Nichols to take the death penalty off the table in his Oklahoma murder trial if he admitted to making a warning phone call to the FBI the day before the 1995 bombing, according to new documents released under the Freedom of Information Act.

The documents were released to Jesse Trentadue, the Salt Lake City attorney who’s been in a 15-year fight with the federal government to prove his brother, Kenneth Trentadue, was mistakenly beaten to death during an FBI interrogation because he closely resembled a man who ran with Tim McVeigh in robbing banks.

They also corroborate Nichols’ claims that the government tried to get him to admit to making an April 18, 1995 phone call to the FBI warning of the bombing. Nichols claimed he knew nothing of the call. “What that indicates to me, there is a record somewhere of that phone call and the FBI needs to explain it,” said Trentadue in an interview with KTOK News.

Part nine of this series shows a variety of visitors.  As has gotten bigger and bigger, I’m not able to keep up with the .gov and other interesting visitors, so I haven’t made a new installment of this lately.  But, for your interest and intrigue – Homeland Security, the Dallas Cowboys, the FBI and more have recently been browsing the pages of my site.  My visit logs only show the most recent 500, so who knows what else I’m missing as I don’t spend too much time browsing for spooks and mil-types anymore.

John Wheeler: SEC Investigations, Air Force UAVs, Cyber Security and a Landfill

Update at bottom – Cause of death: Blunt Force Trauma from Attack

On December 28th, 2010, John Wheeler III boarded a train in Washington and eventually ended up in a landfill.  Newark Police are investigating the death of John Wheeler III, but because of his work at the Pentagon, there has been some communication with the FBI, according to Newark police spokesman Lt. Mark Farrall.

Wheeler was a Pentagon official in three Presidential administrations, working for Presidents Reagan, Bush I and Bush II, and was instrumental in helping build the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.  According to a USA Today article, Wheeler also worked as a lawyer on the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), helped found the Earth Conservation Corps under President George Bush I and was later CEO of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers during Bush I′s presidency.

Hayden’s Note:

He was no mere lawyer for the SEC – He was the Assistant General Counsel, Special Counsel to Chairman, and Secretary, for the Securities and Exchange Commission from 1978-1986.  His work included major insider trading investigations.  Hmmmm.

When Wheeler was murdered, he was working as a consultant for a defense contractor named Mitre, which–according to the company website–deals in “aviation system development, defense & intelligence, federal sector modernization and homeland security.”  Mitre is now working the field of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), one of the fastest growing sectors of defense contracting, where a virtual treasure trove of taxpayer dollars are being paid to private and public corporations....

The Fraud Started at the Very Top

The Fraud Started At the Very Top: With Government Leaders

The government’s entire strategy now – as during the S&L crisis – is to cover up how bad things are (“the entire strategy is to keep people from getting the facts”).

But it is not only a matter of covering up fraud that has already happened. The government also created an environment which greatly encouraged fraud.

Here are just a few of many potential examples:

  • Business Week wrote on May 23, 2006:

“President George W. Bush has bestowed on his intelligence czar, John Negroponte, broad authority, in the name of national security, to excuse publicly traded companies from their usual accounting and securities-disclosure obligations.”

  • Tim Geithner was complicit in Lehman’s accounting fraud, (and see this), and pushed to pay AIG’s CDS counterparties at full value, and then to keep the deal secret. And as Robert Reich notes, Geithner was “very much in the center of the action” regarding the secret bail out of Bear Stearns without Congressional approval.

Fed Asks for Closed Courtroom to Protect Goldman Sachs High Frequency Trading Scheme

Posted on Oct 29, 2010 in Economic News

by Noel Brinkerhoff, David Wallechinsky

The U.S. Department of Justice has requested that a federal judge seal the courtroom of a trial involving computer code theft in order to protect trade secrets of Goldman Sachs.
Sergey Aleynikov was arrested by the FBI on charges of stealing computer code that supports Goldman’s high frequency trading system, which allows the bank to buy and sell stocks in a fraction of a second.
Goldman Sachs and others use “flash trading” to send out automated sell offers at higher and higher prices until one comes back with no buyer. The program then drops back to the highest acceptable price and sells at what the buyer set as his maximum limit. This allows Goldman to always obtain the best possible selling price, while the buyer loses the normal give and take of bargaining. In the case of large orders, such as those from pension funds or mutual funds, this can cost the buyers a small fortune.
Federal prosecutors have argued that the general public should not be allowed to observe the trial when details of Goldman’s trade secrets are discussed....

Two New Orleans Police Officers Charged with Perjury & Obstruction in Shooting Death

Posted on Sep 30, 2010 in Police, Military, & War

Update –

Source: ProPublica

Law and Disorder

A federal grand jury indicted two New Orleans police officers today for lying and obstruction of justice in connection with the shooting death of Danny Brumfield Sr., a 45-year-old man shot in the back by police in the days after Katrina.

Police said they fired a single blast from a shotgun at Brumfield after he jumped on the hood of their squad car and made a lunging motion with a “shiny object” through the passenger window. According to the police version, a pair of scissors was found near where Brumfield fell to the ground. The presence of the “shiny object” and the threatening manner with which it was wielded, gave the officers justification to shoot, an NOPD investigation into the shooting found.

But in today’s indictments, the grand jury said the officers had perjured themselves when they testified about the shooting in a 2007 civil lawsuit brought by the widow of Brumfield, and that Brumfield had been waving his hands — not an object — at the officers immediately before the shooting occurred....

FBI Agents & Supervisors Cheat on Terrorism Exams, Hayden’s Note: Big Surprise

Posted on Sep 28, 2010 in Alphabet Agencies & Operations

Source: The Independent

FBI agents and several supervisors cheated in an exam about new rules for terrorism and criminal investigations and for collecting foreign intelligence, according to a US Justice Department report yesterday.

The report found that some FBI employees improperly consulted colleagues while taking the exam, and others used or distributed answer sheets or study guides that provided the answers to the test.

Hayden’s Note:

This is standard practice in law enforcement. This doesn’t suprise me in the slightest. Any “in-service training” or exams that have to be taken, such as this one, are typically administered in 8 or 16 hour blocks and either the trainer will pass around hand-outs with the answers highlighted or will literally tell officers/agents the answers during the course of the lecture. This is so common and normal within LE that I can’t believe it actually made the news. Obviously, I have had an inside scoop, but this seems like such a non-news story. But, I’ve had several emails suggesting this story, so here ya go!

The sad thing is that most officers don’t learn the course material during in-service training to begin with, let alone when they are given the answers....

FBI Launches Mass Raids of Antiwar Activists’ Homes Thumbnail

FBI Launches Mass Raids of Antiwar Activists’ Homes

Posted on Sep 25, 2010 in Alphabet Agencies & Operations

Source: Antiwar

The FBI is confirming that this morning they began a number of “raids” against the homes of antiwar activists, claiming that they are “seeking evidence relating to activities concerning the material support of terrorism.”

So far there do not appear to have been any arrests related to the raids nor, according to FBI spokesman Steve Warfield, are there any expected. He also insisted that there was “no imminent threat” related to the antiwar organization targeted. Some of the activists say they were ordered to appear before a grand jury, however.

Hayden’s Note:

I’m not taking a side on this issue – I don’t have enough information to form an intelligent opinion on why these raids and warrants were carried out, but it’s scary nonetheless.  How soon will these operations morph into raiding regular Patriots’ homes, members of the Campaign for Liberty or Ron Paul supporters?  This is a slippery slope…

The warrant against antiwar activist Mick Kelly’s home cited efforts to look into his ability to “pay for his own travel” to Palestine and Colombia and appeared to have been little more than a fishing expedition looking for possible links to “foreign terrorist organizations including but not limited to FARC, PFLP, and Hezbollah.” Kelly insists that the raids were about harassing antiwar organizers....

More FBI False Flag Terrorism – This Time in Chicago

Posted on Sep 21, 2010 in Featured Articles

Source: DeadLine Live

During the spring of 2009, FBI agents paid a confidential source (hereinafter referred to as “CS”) to meet with a twenty-two year old Lebanese Chicago resident, Sami Samir Hassoun, according to an affidavit filed Monday. The CS and Hassoun subsequently developed a friendship and met multiple times per week for approximately one year.

After the two had been well acquainted for about a year, Hassoun allegedly told the CS that he wanted to take action that would force Chicago’s Mayor Daley from power (How did the Feds know Hassoun would propose something a year before and insert an intel operative/CS as his friend?  Did they encourage the idea to start with?).  The CS told Hassoun that they had “friends” who might be interested in some of the ideas that Hassoun had recently expressed who, according to the CS, would be willing to pay the CS and Hassoun to engage in such activity.

According the CS, Hassoun had been considering attacks that would command public attention.  In one alleged scenario, Hassoun suggested placing a bomb in Daley Plaza during the then upcoming Arabesque festival....

FBI Give Man Fake Bomb, He Plants it, They Arrest Him – Hayden’s Note Attached

Posted on Sep 20, 2010 in Global & National News

Source: AP

A man arrested for allegedly placing a backpack he thought contained an explosive near the Chicago’s Wrigley Field also talked about poisoning Lake Michigan, bombing a landmark skyscraper and assassinating Mayor Richard Daley, according to a federal complaint filed Monday.

Sami Samir Hassoun, 22, a Lebanese citizen living in Chicago, was charged with one count each of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction and attempted use of an explosive device.

Hayden’s Note:

Later in this report, the FBI and Chicago Police admit that this man was below average intelligence but still wanted to start an “organization” to transform Chicago’s politics.  I’m sorry, but there are thousands of nutjobs like this across America.  Are they terrorists?  No.  Not of their own free will.  They might light a bag of dog poo on fire and throw it at the Mayor’s house, but these types are everywhere.

The only difference with this one was the FBI stepped in, as usual, and supplied the man with what he thought was a bomb.  They then led him to believe he could make lots of money if he would plant the bomb for them. ...

Department of Justice Lists Survivalists, Constitutionalists in Extremism Guide

Posted on Aug 26, 2010 in Constitutional & Liberty Issues, Featured Articles

Source: Public

A recent Department of Justice guide for investigators of criminal and extremist groups lists “constitutionalists” and “survivalists” alongside organizations like Al-Qaeda and the Aryan Brotherhood.  The 120-page, “Law Enforcement Sensitive” guide to “Investigating Terrorism and Criminal Extremism – Terms and Concepts” describes itself as “a glossary designed primarily as a tool for criminal justice professionals to enhance their understanding of words relating to extremist terminology, phrases, activities, symbols, organizations, and selected names that they may encounter while conducting criminal investigations or prosecutions of members of extremist organizations.”

Constitutionalist, defined by Random House’s 2010 Dictionary as an “adherent or advocate of constitutionalism or of an existing constitution”, is described in the report as a “generic term for members of the ‘patriot’ movement”.  Survivalists are described in the document as fearing a “coming collapse of civilization” and are trying to prepare themselves for this collapse.  Such individuals are said to have “typically stockpiled food, water, and weapons, especially the latter, and instructed themselves on topics ranging from first aid to childbirth to edible plants”.

The guide defines the term “New World Order” as being “used by conspiracy theorists to refer to a global conspiracy designed to implement worldwide socialism”. ...

Textbook Doublethink: SPLC’s Latest Effort Attacks Constitutionalists

Posted on Aug 16, 2010 in Featured Articles

Source: 21st Century Wire

The Southern Poverty Law Center’s latest Associated Press release entitled, Baffling beliefs mark Sovereign Citizen theories, is the organization’s most recent effort to marginalize large blocks of the population it deems to be a domestic threat. Examination of this, as well as other documents, reveals a systematic pattern of media manipulation and disinformation aimed squarely at the American people.

In the latest release the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) identifies,  “the number of people who now consider themselves sovereign citizens, Americans above the law who adhere only to the Constitution and follow a revised history of the United States”.

For any students of critical thinking, the SPLC is employing a 20th century propaganda technique know as doublespeak. Here the SPLC attempts to construct the doublethink idea that such Americans who adhere only to the Constitution are “above the law”.

Next it offers out proponents of sound money by railing against them, “The gold standard and bankruptcy: Belief that the country went bankrupt in 1933 when it suspended the gold standard and no longer had collateral to back its loans.” By spinning the conversation in one direction, here the SPLC states what is actual fact in the US and what few economists and historians will argue- that the country is bankrupt and has no real collateral for its loans, but attempts to paint this real-and-present economic reality as a ‘conspiracy theory’ propagated by so-called extremists....
