California Votes to Require Labeling (But Not Ban) of GMO Franken-Salmon

With the USDA expected to approve genetically modified (GMO) salmon in the near future – without any serious safety research – it may devolve on the states to try to minimize the potential negative impact.

The California Assembly Health Committee in Sacramento on May 3 approved a bill requiring that all GMO salmon sold in California contain clear and prominent labeling.

Hayden’s Note:

Well.  It’s a start.  Hopefully more and more states begin to exercise their rights and require ALL genetically modified foods to be labeled.  How wonderful would THAT be?  Germany bans GMO imports.  Europe requires labels.  America?  We like to decieve.  We certainly wouldn’t want to hurt the GMO corn farmers, or the high fructose refiners.  We wouldn’t want the public to realize that 85% of their food is GMO!  Can you imagine how many products would require that label?  Just about….everything.  And I bet we would see the market – the people! – make healthier choices, even if it costs a bit more.  And just think; we did it without limiting freedoms or choices. ...

Armed FDA, IRS and FBI Agents Raid Family Nutrition Store, Seize Everything for “Labeling Non-Compliance”

Amidst all the destructive activities taking place in our world today that deserve attention, the FDA has decided instead to make it a personal mission to destroy the businesses and livelihoods of those trying to help people through natural medicine.

On Thursday, April 14, 2011, dozens of agents from the FDA, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) conducted an unprovoked, full-scale raid on Hood River, Ore.-based Maxam Nutraceutics, a company that produces and sells nutritional supplements primarily for autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and Alzheimer’s disease.

Back in October 12, 2010, the FDA sent a warning letter to Jim Cole, Founder and CEO of Maxam, notifying him that several of his company’s products were not labeled in accordance with the US Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. The letter also stated that Maxam had fifteen days from the receipt of the letter to notify the FDA compliance officer of the specific steps it planned to take in order to correct the violations.

You can view a copy of the FDA warning letter here, complete with the name of the FDA compliance officer to whom Jim and his company were instructed to respond, and the FDA district director who sent the letter:…

Oddly enough, the vast majority of the “unapproved labels” in question were not actually labels at all....

Courts Require FDA to Recognize Cancer Fighting Ability of Vitamins C and E

Posted on Apr 26, 2011 in Health, Food News, & Big Pharma – Kevin Hayden

Source: Natural News

A considerable legal victory has been achieved for the natural health community in defending freedom of health speech. A recent lawsuit filed by the Alliance for Natural Health (ANH) and several other plaintiffs against the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has successfully stopped the FDA from censoring the truth about the health benefits of both vitamin C and vitamin E. The case sets an important precedent for freedom of health speech as the court ruled that censorship of qualified health claims is unconstitutional.

Qualified health claims represent statements that make a connection between a particular substance and its ability to lower disease risk. Such statements can be found on juice containers, cereal boxes, and supplement bottles. One example of a qualified health claim is, “A diet rich in fruits and vegetables may reduce the risk of some types of cancer and other chronic diseases.”

The landmark 1999 case “Pearson vs. Shalala” established that food and supplement manufacturers are freely permitted to include qualified health claims on their products, so long as there is scientific evidence to back it up.

How to Get More Fruits, Vegetables and Super Foods into Your Diet While Avoiding GMOs Thumbnail

How to Get More Fruits, Vegetables and Super Foods into Your Diet While Avoiding GMOs

Posted on Apr 12, 2011 in Featured Articles – Kevin Hayden

Fruits and vegetables should make up a large portion of your diet. They are low in calories, which is good, and they are high in vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and fiber, which is even better. Experts suggest that you eat five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables every day.

Eating the suggested amount of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis is difficult for many people. Busy schedules, eating on the run, and the temptation of junk foods are all barriers to getting enough fruits and vegetables into your diet.

Do you need some help getting more fruits and vegetables into your diet? Here are some tips:

Make Fruits and Vegetables Convenient at Home

Apples, pears, bananas, oranges and cherry tomatoes don’t need any refrigeration. Keep your fruits and vegetables in plain view on your countertop or table. When snack time rolls around it will be easy to grab a piece of fruit or a handful of cherry tomatoes. With this idea in mind, make sure you keep the cookie jar and the candy bars out of sight....

The Great Thimerosal Cover-up: Mercury, Vaccines and Autism

You have probably seen your nurse insert a syringe into a large vial, extract some liquid, and then leave a substantial amount of vaccine in the original container. If you’ve witnessed this seemingly benign procedure, you’ve seen how vaccine manufacturers are saving money at the expense of public health. In order to store larger amounts of vaccine at a lower cost, companies began offering “multi-dose units” while adding preservatives to prevent contaminations. That way doctors can open and close a vaccine container, inviting germs into the once-sterile solution, while assuring the public that those contaminants are quickly killed by the preservative.

Sound familiar? It’s the same story of corporate America’s love affair with preservatives. It saves them money, while posing an undue risk to your health. But like many toxic preservatives found in food, a vaccine preservative kills more than just bacteria and fungi; it can lead to extensive neurological damage in your children, and has even been implicated in autism....

Nuke Pills Top $200, Price Spikes 1900% in Two Days

Posted on Mar 16, 2011 in Emergency Preparedness & Survival

As the effects of the nuclear disaster in Japan remain unclear, panicked US residents are doing whatever they can to get their hands on Potassium Iodide pills. Distributors of the FDA recommended pills have run out of stock, with one manufacturer reporting that they sold some 250,000 individual packets in a single weekend. As we reported in What Your Grocery Store Will Look Like In An Emergency, at the onset of a far-from-equilibrium event, the essentials go first. In Japan, food and especially water have become scarce.

Hayden’s Note:

This is why I prepare.  Am I worried about a radiation cloud in my state?  No.  I don’t buy the hype.  Doesn’t mean I couldn’t be wrong, though.  And because I’ve taken the time to pre-plan and stock supplies means that when the shelves are empty, it doesn’t phase me.  Radiation levels fluctuating?  That’s fine, I can take a reading using equipment that I know is calibrated properly and can shield myself from any exposure.  I take periodic background readings of my immediate area so I can tell when something has changed and I’m not paying $200 for a pack of potassium iodine. ...

Respen-A and Autism: an Important Treatment to Consider

Posted on Feb 28, 2011 in Health, Food News, & Big Pharma

Source: Natural News

An exciting new therapy called Respen-A is showing great benefit for individuals on the autism spectrum with respects to some of their core issue such as language delay, socialization, self-stimulatory behavior and cognitive dysfunction. Respen-A has been available since 2008, but not until recently has increased interest been recognized within the autism community of its benefits. So what is Respen-A and what does it do?

Respen-A is a small disc (about the size of a nickel) applied to the skin once daily for 12 hours. In the disc is an ingredient called reserpine in a small dose that helps to activate a particular enzyme in the human body called Monoamine Oxidase A (MAO-A). MAO-A helps metabolize three primary neurotransmitters called histamine, serotonin and norepinephrine. In autism, serotonin is greatly affected which results in issues such as poor mood regulation, tantrums, and anxiety. Also, fine and gross motor skills, self-regulation problems, and sensory system imbalances such as touch, sound, etc. are prevalent too.

Reserpine is a known as a MAO-A agonist which means it promotes MAO-A activity, and in doing so helps to turn serotonin over into what’s called its active aldehyde form.

Roundup, GMOs Linked to Emergence of Deadly New Pathogen Causing Spontaneous Abortions

Posted on Feb 24, 2011 in Featured Articles, Health, Food News, & Big Pharma

Source: Natural NewsInstitute for Science in Society

In a shocking warning letter to USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack, a highly experienced, ex-military pathogen researcher warns that the use of Roundup via GMO crops is resulting in the emergence of a deadly new pathogen — previously unknown to science — that’s causing widespread spontaneous abortions among cattle. The pathogen appears in high concentrations among even non-GMO crops that are “managed” through the use of glyphosate (Roundup) for weed control.

The complete letter can be found near the end of this page.

The letter is authored by Col. (Retired) Don M. Huber, a former Emeritus Professor at Purdue University. Huber was also the coordinator at the American Phytopathological Society, an organization that studies plant diseases and pathogens. Huber also sat on the committee for Emerging Diseases and Pathogens, chaired by an Agriculture Research Service (USDA) employee from Fort Detrick, Maryland.

Fort Detrick, you may remember, is also where the U.S. military conducts much of its biological warfare research through its United States Army Biological Warfare Laboratories (…).  A few years ago, deadly pathogens “went missing” from this lab (…)....

Welcome to the Communist States of America

Source: Truth Offering

Five years ago, I admit that this article would have offended me. Furthermore, I would have found it’s claim, at the outset, to be completely outlandish.

Five years later, after a long journey of enlightenment and study, I can honestly say that everything you’re about to read is true. Whether or not you want to believe it, because of what that means for you and your family, is an entirely different issue.

Let me start with a famous United States slogan:

“Land of the Free, Home of the Brave.”

That’s America, right? Well, no, not really. Take off your blinders. Today, it’s more like:

“Land of the Fee, Home of the Slave.”

The average person works from January 1st to April 9th just to pay their taxes. That doesn’t sound very American to me.  I’d call that indentured servitude, aka, slavery.

The more I ponder our reality in the US, the more concerned I become. We’re told from a very young age that we are, in fact, the freest nation on the planet; the place where all people can come and make their dreams come true....

False: FDA Moves to Ban Injectable Vitamin C, Further Destroying the Health of Americans

Posted on Jan 06, 2011 in Health, Food News, & Big Pharma

Source: Natural News

Counterpoint provided at bottom – the FDA is NOT banning IV Vitamin C.  Several websites, this one included, took the original report for face value and failed to investigate the claim further.  Although I’m an avid supporter of Natural News, they sort of dropped the ball on this one.  Regardless, it has placed the subject of IV C onto a lot of people’s radar who might have otherwise never heard of it or the awesome benefits of ascorbic acid in the fight against cancer.

Not content to kill 100,000 Americans each year with deadly Big Pharma drugs while censoring the truth about the healing effects of herbs, nutritional supplements and natural medicines, the FDA has now set out to deny Americans access to yet another lifesaving medicine known simply as vitamin C.

As reported by the Alliance for Natural Health, the FDA has notified a manufacturer of injectable vitamin C that it will be criminally prosecuted if it continues to manufacture this lifesaving nutritional therapy. (…)

Why injectable vitamin C saves lives

In an age where tens of millions of Americans are already vitamin C deficient and suffer from colds and other infections that can be prevented with vitamins, the FDA appears to be acting on what can only be called a death wish for the American people....

Senate Bill S 510 – the “Food Safety Modernization Act” – was passed by the U.S. Senate today.  If signed into law, it would unleash a new era of FDA tyranny over farmers, food producers and even small family farms, many of which already exceed the “small farms exclusion” written into the bill.

Monsanto Candidates Win Elections

Posted on Nov 08, 2010 in Political Issues

Source: Natural News

Washington, D.C., is a hotbed of political lobbyists whose primary goal is to sway politicians to do their bidding. Multinational biotechnology giant Monsanto is one such lobbyist with a Political Action Committee (PAC) that spends hundreds of thousands of dollars every year to buy off candidates to support its agenda. And in the most recent U.S. election cycle, most of the company’s funded candidates won their races.

According to a recent report from the Organic Consumers Association (OCA), ten of the 15 Congressmen that Monsanto helped fund won their seats, including Senators Richard Burr of North Carolina and Chuck Grassley of Iowa. Monsanto even gave money to a number of candidates that were either retiring or not up for reelection, most likely as a “thank you” for previous political favors.

Based on information contained in disclosure reports, Monsanto spent over $470,000 on the overall mid-term election cycle, with just under $128,000 going to Congressional Democrats and over $121,000 going to Congressional Republicans. To see if your Congressmen accepted money from Monsanto, check out the OpenSecrets Monsanto contributions page:…

Monsanto darling Bill Northey, who was just reelected as Iowa’s Secretary of Agriculture, also has a history of financial ties with Monsanto....

Vitamins ‘linked’ to Illness, But Never Drugs – The Problem with Big Pharma

Posted on Oct 20, 2010 in Health, Food News, & Big Pharma

Source: Natural News

The mainstream media has an interesting way of skewing facts and manipulating language to make one thing sound like another. In a recent BBC News article, the author emphasizes a “link” between vitamin B12 and Alzheimer’s — which seemingly suggests that the vitamin somehow contributes to causing the disease — when in fact, the study being referenced shows a link between vitamin B12 and the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s.

The Finnish study, published in the journal Neurology, found that vitamin B12 reduces homocysteine levels in the blood. Homocysteine is linked to causing both strokes and dementia, so lowering it helps to prevent such illnesses from occurring. But the BBC News article’s subheading reads: “Evidence is mounting that levels of vitamin B12 may be connected to the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.”

This interesting choice of words suggests, at first glance, that taking vitamin B12 may cause dementia, rather than prevent or treat it, as is actually the case. The poor word choice is not only confusing, but blatantly deceptive to readers. Even the title of the article is tricky, which reads: “Vitamin B12 link to Alzheimer’s backed by study.”

Readers who make it beyond the title and subheading are then bombarded with statements about how trial results are inconclusive and that more trials must take place....

Family Dairy Farm Ordered by Gestapo FDA to Destroy 50,000 lbs. of Cheese

Posted on Oct 15, 2010 in Featured Articles, Health, Food News, & Big Pharma

Source: Poor Richard’s Blog

by Doreen Hannes

Morningland Dairy is the latest attempt by the FDA to fulfill the Healthy People 2020 objective to kill raw dairy. Morningland is owned by Joseph and Denise Dixon, who operate the cheese plant and make raw cheese from cows kept right on the property and managed by one of their eldest daughters. They have 12 children, 4 who still live at home, and they have been actively engaged in real food for decades.  They were caught up in the Rawesome Raid dragnet and many believe the questionable California Dept of Food and Agriculture tests on their cheese are the legal justification for the multi-agency guns drawn raid at Rawesome.

In the thirty years of Morningland Dairy operations NO ONE has become ill from consuming their products. Yet they have been ordered by the Missouri Milk Board to destroy ALL of their cheese without actual tests being performed on the cheese stock. This is nearly 50,000 pounds of cheese, or approximately $250,000.
Since the Milk Board and the FDA showed up at Morningland on August 26th, they have been “embargoed” from shipping or making any product....

Think Your Exposure to BPA is Minimal and Harmless? Think Again

Posted on Sep 30, 2010 in Health, Food News, & Big Pharma

Source: Natural News

Some recent reports about the dangers of the plastic chemical bisphenol A (BPA) insist that people not worry because overall exposure is limited, they say. But a new report published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives says otherwise, estimating that the average person is exposed to at least eight times the daily amount of BPA that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) considers “safe”.

“Our data raise grave concerns that regulatory agencies have grossly underestimated current human exposure levels,” explain study authors in their report.

Hayden’s Note:

Scroll down to the bottom and look at the related posts (or hit the search bar at the top right).

BPA is essentially a synthetic estrogen designed decades ago.  It is in everything you touch, eat and drink nowadays.  Water bottles, canned food, plastics, fast-food, soft drinks, utensils, bags, packaging …everywhere.  Those new dental fillings you’re sporting instead of the older silver-amalgam mix?  Those are made with BPA, too.  Be aware!

Many even question the EPA’s 50 micrograms per day threshold, citing evidence that minimal amounts of the chemical interfere with proper hormone balance, both in children and adults....
