In hearing about the recent LA Supreme Court decision upholding one of my cases, I’ve decided to share a few pictures with everyone! Most of these were taken when I was working on the 2nd District Task Force – a street crimes unit, essentially. Our goal was to arrest dope dealers and violent felons. While I am strongly against the War on Drugs, most of these pictures were taken before I had my eyes opened. Also, I believe there is a balance that can be struck between arresting those who need to be off the streets, such as violent felons slinging dope to the young and old alike, and allowing personal choice and freedom.

Our world is changing at a pace that is so staggering these days that it can be really hard to fully grasp the significance of what we are witnessing. Hopefully the collection of random facts below will help you to “connect the dots” just a little bit. Do you ever just sit back and wonder what in the world has happened to America? Missing from this article is the fact that Deepwater Horizon was essentially the world’s most technologically advanced, most expensive deepwater drilling rig in existence. This rig has multiple safety measures, including advanced “dead man” switches and safeties. How did this explosion occur in the first place?

Hayward stated it was simply to pay off his mortgage of £1.2 million, even though his yearly salary is over £4 million. Coincidence? Riiiiiight. For an executive to sell 1/3 of his interest in his own company is startling and unusual by itself!

Bond markets could get very nasty over the coming months, while stock investors could take a few months off and stop attempting to trade volatile swings in the markets, Anthony Fry, senior managing director at Evercore Partners, told CNBC Monday. “The current problems will be with us for 5 years or more and uncertainty is very high…You can have lower rates and deflation, higher rates and higher inflation or the nightmare scenario of higher rates and deflating asset prices,” he said. “If the nightmare scenario plays out as I suspect it may then the debt situation gets worse. There is currently no exit strategy and the reaction to the crisis of policy makers remains a big worry.” As a result, Fry is telling investors to play it safe and buy physical assets like land. “I don’t want to scare anyone but I am considering investing in barbed wire and guns, things are not looking good and rates are heading higher,” he said.

If the proverbial you-know-what hit the global fan, would you be prepared? The answer to that question is most likely a big, fat NO.
