A new study from the U.S. Geological Survey, accepted for publication online ahead of print in the journal Enviromental Toxicology and Chemistry, titled, “Pesticides in Mississippi air and rain: A comparison between 1995 and 2007,”[i]reveals that Roundup herbicide (aka glyphosate) and its still-toxic degradation byproduct AMPA were found in over 75% of the air and rain samples tested from Mississippi in 2007.

The researchers evaluated a wide range of pesticides currently being used through weekly composite air and rain sampling collected during the 1995 and 2007 growing seasons in the Mississippi Delta agricultural region.

So, what is the toxicological significance of the discovery of glyphosate in most air samples tested? In the month of August, 2007, if you were breathing in the sampled air you would be inhaling approximately 2.5 nanograms of glyphosate per cubic meter of air. It has been estimated the average adult inhales approximately 388 cubic feet or 11 cubic meters of air per day, which would equal to 27.5 nanograms (billionths of a gram) of glyphosate a day....

Monsanto Protection Act Set to Expire; Senate Does Not Renew

Finally, it seems like we have the attention of some of the members of Congress. As the result of an enormous outcry, the Senate voted down the rider that was recently approved by the House of Representatives. The rider would have continued Big Biotech’s immunity against prosecution resulting from their toxic farming practices and questionable crops.

As of September 30th, the so-called Monsanto Protection Act will be dead. This is a major victory for anti-GMO activists as it is the first time that Congress has decided in favor of the constituents as opposed to companies like Monsanto, Sygenta, Bayer, and Dow.

Hayden’s Note:

I somehow don’t think that this was defeated because the Senate is a group of good guys watching out for all of us. Instead, I have a feeling there was something else in the overall vote that was not to be passed. Expect the Monsanto Protection Act rider to be rewritten or worked into a different bill for future vote once the dust settles and the alt media has quieted down.

Non-GMO Project: List of 400+ Companies Who Voluntarily Label

Kevin Hayden –

We often write about the bio-tech terrorist known as Monsanto, but this time, we felt that a bit of positive information would do more to help spread the word about the dangers of genetically modified organisms (GMOs or GE; genetically engineered food).

One of the best tools in the current fight to avoid GMOs is by purchasing items marked with the Non-GMO Project label.

The Non-GMO Project, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, offers North America’s only third party verification and labeling for non-GMO (genetically modified organism) food and products.

We encourage you to support the brands and products below in recognition of their laudable commitment to ensuring the sustained availability of non-GMO options, and their belief that consumers deserve an informed choice.

Hayden’s Note: Chipolte Becomes First US Restaurant to Voluntarily Label GMOs, Vows to Eliminate Them

The recent decision by Whole Foods Market to label all genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) sold in its stores by the long-off date of 2018 looks silly and almost meaningless compared to the right-now policy of fresh food chain Chipotle, which is officially the first and only major U.S. food supplier to voluntarily label GMOs. On its “Ingredients Statement” website, Chipotle clearly outlines which of its food products contain GMOs, and also states that it is working aggressively to source completely non-GMO ingredients for all of its products as it moves forward.

Chipotle has always marketed itself as a healthy alternative to fast food, having taken steps from the beginning to eliminate things like dairy products produced using the artificial growth hormone rBST, for instance, and replacing them with pasture-raised dairy products. Chipotle has also played a key role in propelling forward the local agriculture movement by sourcing as many locally-grown and organic ingredients as possible, and eliminating artificial additives and other toxins commonly used in fast food.

But now Chipotle has set the bar even higher, and by choice, delineating each and every ingredient used in its meats, beans, rice, and dressings, and clarifying which ones contain GMOs....

Public Release of All Data Submitted by Monsanto for Approval of GM Corn

The approval process in many countries for genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and their chemical-based treatment technologies is largely a secretive affair, as the public is typically not made privy to the data used in the decision making process, nor the rationale behind officials’ ultimate decision to green-light a particular crop or chemical. But this appears to be changing in Europe, where the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) recently made public all available data originally submitted by Monsanto in 2003 for the approval of a popular GM corn variety known as NK603.

According to the Nature news blog, EFSA intends to eventually iron out a full-scale plan to make all data on GMOs and chemicals publicly available. But at this point in time, the regulatory body is starting the process by responding to requests from members of the independent scientific community and the public about the details behind NK603’s approval. With the exception of “a small amount of commercially confidential information,” EFSA has reportedly publicly released all the data submitted by Monsanto for NK603....

GMO Alert: Eating Genetically Modified Wheat May Permanently Damage Your Liver

Posted on Sep 13, 2012 in Health, Food News, & Big Pharma

Genetically engineered wheat contains an enzyme suppressor that, when consumed by humans, could cause permanent liver failure (and death). That’s the warning issued today by molecular biologist Jack Heinemann of the University of Canterbury in Australia.

Heinemann has published an eye-opening report that details this warning and calls for rigorous scientific testing on animals before this crop is ever consumed by humans. The enzyme suppressor in the wheat, he says, might also attack a human enzyme that produces glycogen. Consumers who eat genetically modified wheat would end up contaminating their bodies with this enzyme-destroying wheat, causing their own livers to be unable to produce glycogen, a hormone molecule that helps the body regulate blood sugar metabolism. This, in turn, would lead to liver failure.

“What we found is that the molecules created in this wheat, intended to silence wheat genes, can match human genes, and through ingestion, these molecules can enter human beings and potentially silence our genes,” said Heinemann in a press conference on the threat of GM wheat (

Bill Gates Dumps Another $10 Million into Researching New GM Crops for Agricultural Takeover of Africa

Posted on Jul 23, 2012 in Global & National News, Health, Food News, & Big Pharma, Urban Gardening, Farming & Homesteading

Kevin Hayden –

Source: Natural News – Great resource!

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is once again busy funding efforts to promote the spread of the agricultural cancer that are genetically-modified (GM) crops, this time in the form of a $10 million grant it recently issued to a group of British scientists working on new GM crops that require no fertilizer. According to the U.K.’s BBC, the justification behind the need for such research is that the GM crops will supposedly benefit African farmers that are unable to afford fertilizer.

Researchers from the John Innes Centre (JIC) in Norwich will specifically use the grant, which happens to be the largest single investment into GM crops ever made in that country by a private organization, to create novel varieties of corn, wheat, and rice that pull nitrogen out of the air rather than from material fertilizers. Certain crops, including beans already do this naturally, which is what led scientists to begin a process of trying to artificially splice nitrogen-pulling genes into various other crops.

“We believe if we can get nitron fixing cereals we can deliver much higher yields to farmers in Africa and allow them to grow enough food for themselves,” said professor Giles Oldroyd from JIC, lead author of the new study....

‘Monsanto Protection Act’ to Grant Biotech Terrorists Total Immunity Over GMO Risks?

Posted on Jul 17, 2012 in Alphabet Agencies & Operations, Health, Food News, & Big Pharma, Urban Gardening, Farming & Homesteading

Kevin Hayden –

Source: Natural NewsWhile millions of Americans were busy celebrating freedom from tyranny during the recent Independence Day festivities, Monsanto was actively trying to thwart that freedom with new attacks on health freedom. It turns out that the most evil corporation in the world has quietly attached riders to both the 2012 Farm Bill and the 2013 Agriculture Appropriations Bill that would essentially force the federal government to approve GMOs at the request of biotechnology companies, and prohibit all safety reviews of GMOs from having any real impact on the GMO approval process.

The Alliance for Natural Health – USA (ANH-USA), the Organic Consumers Association (OCA), and several other health freedom advocacy groups have been actively drawing attention to these stealth attacks in recent days, and urging Americans to rise up and oppose them now before it is too late. If we fail to act now as a single, unified community devoted to health freedom, in other words, America’s agricultural future could literally end up being controlled entirely by the biotech industry, which will have full immunity from the law....

Win: BioTech Terrorist Monsanto Faced with Paying Back $7.5 Billion to Farmers

Posted on Jun 20, 2012 in Health, Food News, & Big Pharma

Monsanto may soon be forced to pay as much as 7.5 billion dollars back to the farmers who say that the mega corporation took their rightfully earned income and taxed their small businesses to financial shambles. It all started with a monumental lawsuit launched by over 5 million farmers against Monsanto looking to recover financial losses from ridiculous seed taxes that bankrupted many families.

Back in April, a Brazilian court ruled that Monsanto absolutely was responsible for paying back the exorbitant amounts of cash to the farmers, ordering the company to issue back all of the taxes collected since 2004 — a minimum of 2 billion dollars. Afterwards, Monsanto appealed the decision and the case is now suspended until a further hearing is initiated by the Justice Tribune of the local court stationed in Rio Grande do Sul.

Recently, however, the Brazilian Supreme Court declared that any decision reached in a local court case should apply nationally. The result? Monsanto now faces even larger charges, due to the larger legal application on a national level....

New Job, New Location: Update on Website

Kevin Hayden –

I’ve recently taken a new job position that has landed me in the middle of farm country.  While there are a lot of work hours involved, I’m getting settled in and should be back to my usual 3-4 articles per day soon.  Please pardon the lack of updates as I transition into this new role!  It should only be for a few more days!

I’ve been posting and sharing articles on the Facebook page more often as it is sometimes impossible to get a good internet signal to update the website.  My cell signal is decent most of the time, so it allows me to interact on the Facebook Fan Page.  If you’re on Facebook, and not a fan, be sure to stop by and click, ‘Like’!

Please, continue sending article links, questions, and your awesome emails (well, most of the time… I love the hate mail, as well) and I will try to respond to all of them!  There are a few emails sitting in my inbox right now that I promise I’ll respond to, just give me a few more days!...

Monsanto Threatens to Sue Vermont if Legislators Pass a GMO Labeling Bill

The world’s most hated corporation is at it again, this time in Vermont. Elected officials are abandoning public interest and the peoples’  will in the face of corporate intimidation.

Despite overwhelming public support and support from a clear majority of Vermont’s Agriculture Committee, Vermont legislators are dragging their feet on a proposed GMO labeling bill. Why? Because Monsanto has threatened to sue the state if the bill passes.

The popular legislative bill requiring mandatory labels on genetically engineered food (H-722) is languishing in the Vermont House Agriculture Committee, with only four weeks left until the legislature adjourns for the year. Despite thousands of emails and calls from constituents who overwhelmingly support mandatory labeling, despite the fact that a majority (6 to 5) of Agriculture Committee members support passage of the measure, Vermont legislators are holding up the labeling bill and refusing to take a vote.

What happened to the formerly staunch legislative champions of Vermont’s “right to know” bill? They lost their nerve and abandoned their principles after Monsanto representative recently threatened a public official that the biotech giant would sue Vermont if they dared to pass the bill....

The World According to Monsanto – Full Length Documentary

Kevin Hayden –

For those of you who haven’t seen this amazing documentary, I urge you to sit back and enjoy!  This is a core documentary that you should watch in order to expand your understanding of the dangers that GMOs present.

The World According to Monsanto

Thanks to these intimate links between Monsanto and government agencies, the US adopted GE foods and crops without proper testing, without consumer labeling and in spite of serious questions hanging over their safety. Not coincidentally, Monsanto supplies 90 percent of the GE seeds used by the US market. Monsanto’s long arm stretched so far that, in the early nineties, the US Food and Drugs Agency even ignored warnings of their own scientists, who were cautioning that GE crops could cause negative health effects. Other tactics the company uses to stifle concerns about their products include misleading advertising, bribery and concealing scientific evidence.

White House Refuses to Disclose Ties to Monsanto Lobbyists, Ignores FOIA

Posted on Feb 24, 2012 in Health, Food News, & Big Pharma, Political Issues

Kevin Hayden –

Source: RT News

Despite requests made under the Freedom of Information Act for correspondence out of the White House, the Obama administration is simply refusing to comply with calls to disclose discussions with Monsanto-linked lobbyists.

The US-based non-profit group Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) is demanding that the White House comply with a FOIA request for information that might link the Obama administration with lobbyists tied to the Monsanto corporation.

Three-hundred thousands organic farmers across America are currently trying to take Monsanto to court to keep the corporation from continuing its war on independent growers. As a case is composed, the PEER group suspects that the White House’s refusal to comply with the FOIA request could be because Monsanto has some powerful friends on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Particularly, PEER is trying to pry correspondence that came into the inbox of a White House policy analyst from a lobbyist with the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), which represents Monsanto and other manufacturers of genetically-engineered seeds. The White House says that disclosing the full details of the email could give competing companies an advantage as lobbying secrets are unearthed for the world, but PEER thinks the truth is much worse than that....

Monsanto’s Bt Corn on the Cob to Be Sold at Wal-Mart With No Indication It’s Genetically Modified

Posted on Feb 21, 2012 in Health, Food News, & Big Pharma

Most of the genetically-modified (GM) corn products forced on American consumers today are hidden in processed foods in the form of high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS), corn oil, corn starch, and various other corn-based additives.

But soon to be available at a Walmart near you is Monsanto’s Bt sweet corn, the agri-giant’s first ever GM corn product made available to consumers as whole ears right on the cob in the produce section– and like with all other GMOs, neither Walmart nor Monsanto has any intention of labeling this new “Frankencorn.”

Hayden’s Note:

I urge you to research the dangers of genetically modified foods. I have written countless articles on the topic.  With that being said, this move will further obfuscate and confuse consumers regarding the severity of GMOs.  For those few people out there who buy corn from the produce section in order to avoid BPA exposure from cans, or perhaps believe that the corn is better for you as a raw, unprocessed “produce item,” you’re in for a world of cancer and they won’t even give you a courtesy warning.  ...
