Sugar Beets- Monsanto Wins Again

farmer3_dees-1Last Friday a federal judge imposed a nationwide ban on GMO sugar beets and it was overturned the next business day. Sugar beets comprise 50% of the sugar used in US food, and 95% of the sugar beets grown in the US are GMO. It is the jurisdiction of the US Department of Agriculture to determine whether plants are environmentally safe; this case is about whether the plants can cross pollinate (by wind, insects, etc) and contaminate other plants. This could have cost Monsanto billions of dollars.

Less than 2 weeks ago, wild growing canola in North Dakota was discovered to be 86% GMO. Because GMO crops are crossed with herbicide resistant plants (usually weeds), they grow like weeds and contaminate natural plants. Alarmingly, two of the canola samples collected by scientists showed that multiple genes from different species of GMO canola plants cross pollinated without cultivation, and probably for several generations. The implication of this is that GMO seeds can readily contaminate natural seeds and become out of control.

The GMO alfalfa ban lawsuit about contamination was the first GMO case ever heard by the Supreme Court, despite countless lawsuits from farmers whose fields have been polluted by GMOs....

Hayden’s Note:

I rarely post anything from Alex Jones as I’m not a fan of the way he hypes his headlines for more exposure.  But occasionally, he hits the nail on the head.  When it comes to GMO foods and chemically engineered ingredients, there can be NO exaggeration.

Genetically modified food is killing us.  The thousands of chemicals we ingest everyday are killing us.  They are making us sterile.  They are promoting organ failure, brain tumors, cancers and altered behavior.

If you are not familiar with Monsanto and the terrible, terrible things they are doing to our food, see here, here and even here.  These are just a few of the Monsanto and GMO stories I’ve published on Truth is Treason.  Hit the search bar at the top right to find more!

In a special video, Alex Jones addresses one of the darkest modes of power the globalists have used to control the population– food. The adulteration of the planet’s staple crops, genetically-altered species and intentionally-altered water, food and air all amount to a Eugenics operation to weaken the masses and achieve full spectrum domination....

Monsanto Seed Ban Overturned by Supreme Court

Posted on Jun 21, 2010 in Health, Food News, & Big Pharma

The bio-tech company Monsanto can sell genetically modified seeds before safety tests on them are completed, the US Supreme Court has ruled.

A lower court had barred the sale of the modified alfalfa seeds until an environmental impact study could be carried out.

But seven of the nine Supreme Court Justices decided that ruling was unconstitutional.

Hayden’s Note:

I’m no lawyer, but let’s see here… My neighbor is doing something that effects not only my health, but my ability to earn an income and produce Crop XYZ.  Once I ask Neighbor Joe to stop doing whatever it is he’s doing that has literally ruined, cursed and poisoned my land and crops, and he continues, I believe he has encroached on my Constitutional Rights.  Whatever happened to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?  I was under the impression that when my neighbor prevents me from seeking those things, he has plainly diminished my rights.

Hmmmm.  Once again, 9 people decide the fate of us all.  GMOs have been shown and proven to cause 2nd and 3rd generation sterility, cancer, liver failure, organ damage and is such a pervasive pest, that it cross-pollinates into neighboring fields, rendering those crops useless the next year. ...

Food and Depopulation: Monsanto’s Monopoly

Posted on Jun 10, 2010 in Health, Food News, & Big Pharma

(Part 2 of 4)

A monopoly is exclusive control of a commodity or service that makes it possible to manipulate prices.  This is accomplished through governmental regulations used to enforce the monopoly.  The way to break a monopoly is to remove those laws.  This is simple, but not easy in the case of Monsanto, because the roots extend to international, federal, state, and local government regulations.  Monopoly owners corner a market by taking control of the resource AND preventing others from using the resource.

The famous robber baron JD Rockefeller refined this method of monopolization with Standard Oil; he created a cartel (an agreement between companies to avoid competition) with the companies he could not buy or force out of business through extraordinarily corrupt business practices.  Competition creates a free market; JD Rockefeller is famous for saying, “Competition is a sin.”  Of course, the Rockefellers have an enormous stake in biotechnology and the Rockefeller Foundation funded the biology centers and research that led to the creation of GMOs;  F.  William Engdahl’s book, “Seeds of Destruction”, is highly recommended for the complete details....

Many people are always asking about what is the “big fuss” over “grass fed” when it comes to meat (beef), eggs and dairy. The big fuss is about choosing a better quality of meat that is more in line with what our bodies were designed to use. Little do many really know there is a big difference between a nice bison (grass fed) burger and a Big Mac.

So rather than bore you with a lengthy article about all the advantages, how about just some simple pictures and bullet points to drive it home. If a picture is worth a 1000 words…well here are 10,000 words that may surprise you:

  • More antioxidant Beta Carotene
  • More CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid – cancer prevention)
  • Less Fat/Saturated Fat (this is more natural levels for wild meats)
  • Less Omega 6s, More Omega 3s (more natural balance)
  • Less chance of that animal getting sick or producing sick meat!

Senate Bill 510, the Most Dangerous Bill in the History of the US

Dec. 20th Update: The modified version of SB 510 passed the Senate late Monday night in a sneaky voice vote.  All Senators voted for it, Republicans and Democrats alike.  Not a single U.S. Senator – not even Oklahoma’s Tom Coburn – objected to its passage.  The bill now returns to the House of Representatives for a final vote as HR 2751.  This is absolute betrayal by our representatives and public officials.

Dec. 1st Update: The House of Representatives have challenged the passage of SB 510, stating that it includes tax provisions – violating a Constitutional provision requiring that tax provisions originate in the House.  It returns to the Senate for correction and drags out the lame-duck session.  It should be noted, for what it’s worth, a hot mic left on during the Senate vote Tuesday morning caught a senator complaining that the process of setting the agenda (what will be heard and debated, namely the Food Safety Act) during the lame-duck session is “rigged.”

Monsanto: The Evil Corporation in Your Refrigerator

When we consider the rogue’s gallery of devilish, over-sized, greedy and disproportionately powerful corporations, we generally come up with outfits like Microsoft, Bechtel, AIG, Halliburton, Goldman-Sachs, Exxon-Mobil and the United States Senate. Yet somehow, Monsanto, arguably the most devilish, over-sized, greedy and disproportionately powerful corporation in the world has been able to more or less skulk between the raindrops — only a household name in households where documentaries like Food Inc. are regarded as light Friday evening entertainment. My house, for example. But for the most part, if you were to ask an average American for their list of sinister corporations, Monsanto probably wouldn’t make the cut.

It should.

Founded by Missouri pharmacist John Francis Queeny in 1901, Monsanto is literally everywhere. Just about every non-organic food product available to consumers has some sort of connection with Monsanto.

Anyone who can read a label knows that corn, soy and cotton can be found in just about every American food product. Upwards of 90% of all corn, soybeans and cotton are grown from genetically engineered seeds, also known as genetically modified organisms (GMOs)....

Monsanto Under Investigation in 7 US States

Posted on Apr 12, 2010 in Health, Food News, & Big Pharma

Source: Organic Consumers Association

At least seven US state attorneys general are investigating whether Monsanto Company has abused its market power to lock out competitors and raise prices on seed. Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, Texas, Virginia, and two other unidentified states are in a working group to investigate the biotech giant.

The states are probing whether Monsanto violated laws by offering rebates to seed distributors for excluding rival seeds, imposing limits on combining the product with other genetic modifications, or offering cash incentives to switch farmers to more expensive generation of seed varieties.

The state investigations add to pressure on Monsanto. The US Justice Department is investigating the company’s marketing practices, and DuPont Company has accused Monsanto of anti-competitive practices in licensing litigation.

Daniel Sokol, a law professor at the University of Florida and expert on antitrust matters, told Bloomberg News that a state-level investigation on top of the federal probe “can lengthen the lawsuit and potential settlements and can increase uncertainty and costs for Monsanto.”...

Obama Puts Pesticide Lobbyist in Charge of Agricultural Trade Relations

Sidestepping a stalled Senate confirmation vote, yesterday President Obama recess-appointed Islam Siddiqui to be chief agricultural negotiator in the office of the U.S. trade representative. Dr. Siddiqui’s nomination was held up in the Senate and was opposed by the Center for Biological Diversity and more than 80 other environmental, small-farm, and consumer groups. More than 90,000 concerned citizens contacted the White House and Senate to oppose the nomination. Siddiqui is a former pesticide lobbyist and is currently vice president of science and regulatory affairs at CropLife America, a biotech and pesticide trade group that lobbies to weaken environmental laws.

“Dr. Siddiqui’s confirmation is a step backward,” said Tierra Curry, a scientist at the Center for Biological Diversity. “His appointment ensures the perpetuation of pesticide- and fossil-fuel-intensive policies, which undermine global food security and imperil public health and wildlife.”

As undersecretary for marketing and regulatory programs at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Siddiqui oversaw the development of the first national organic labeling standards, which allowed sewage sludge-fertilized, genetically modified, and irradiated food to be labeled as organic before public outcry forced more stringent standards....

Monsanto’s Harvest of Fear

Monsanto already dominates America’s food chain with its genetically modified seeds. Now it has targeted milk production. Just as frightening as the corporation’s tactics–ruthless legal battles against small farmers–is its decades-long history of toxic contamination.

Hayden’s Note:

This is a lengthy piece!  In total, there are 6 pages.  I think this is amazing that a mainstream information source like this is speaking out against Monsanto!  I am only posting the first page or so, but have provided a link at the bottom to read the rest at Vanity Fair.  It’s a great, investigative article, so don’t miss out!

Gary Rinehart clearly remembers the summer day in 2002 when the stranger walked in and issued his threat. Rinehart was behind the counter of the Square Deal, his “old-time country store,” as he calls it, on the fading town square of Eagleville, Missouri, a tiny farm community 100 miles north of Kansas City.

The Square Deal is a fixture in Eagleville, a place where farmers and townspeople can go for lightbulbs, greeting cards, hunting gear, ice cream, aspirin, and dozens of other small items without having to drive to a big-box store in Bethany, the county seat, 15 miles down Interstate 35....

Three Approved GMOs Linked to Organ Damage

Posted on Jan 04, 2010 in Featured Articles, Health, Food News, & Big Pharma

By Rady Ananda – BlackListedNews Contributing Writer

In what is being described as the first ever and most comprehensive study of the effects of genetically modified foods on mammalian health, researchers have linked organ damage with consumption of Monsanto’s GM maize.

All three varieties of GM corn, Mon 810, Mon 863 and NK 603, were approved for consumption by US, European and several other national food safety authorities. Made public by European authorities in 2005, Monsanto’s confidential raw data of its 2002 feeding trials on rats that these researchers analyzed is the same data, ironically, that was used to approve them in different parts of the world.

The Committee of Research and Information on Genetic Engineering (CRIIGEN) and Universities of Caen and Rouen studied Monsanto’s 90-day feeding trials data of insecticide producing Mon 810, Mon 863 and Roundup® herbicide absorbing NK 603 varieties of GM maize.

The data “clearly underlines adverse impacts on kidneys and liver, the dietary detoxifying organs, as well as different levels of damages to heart, adrenal glands, spleen and haematopoietic system,” reported Gilles-Eric Séralini, a molecular biologist at the University of Caen....

Monsanto’s Dominance over Seed Market Opens AntiTrust Inquiry

Obama Chooses Former Monsanto Lobbyist for Food Safety Post

Via: Washington Post:

For plants designed in a lab a little more than a decade ago, they’ve come a long way: Today, the vast majority of the nation’s two primary crops grow from seeds genetically altered according to Monsanto company patents.

Ninety-three percent of soybeans. Eighty percent of corn.

The seeds represent “probably the most revolutionary event in grain crops over the last 30 years,” said Geno Lowe, a Salisbury, Md., soybean farmer.

But for farmers such as Lowe, prices of the Monsanto-patented seeds have steadily increased, roughly doubling during the past decade, to about $50 for a 50-pound bag of soybean seed, according to seed dealers.

The revolution, and Monsanto’s dominant role in the nation’s agriculture, has not unfolded without complaint. Farmers have decried the price increases, and competitors say the company has ruthlessly stifled competition....
