“The police then proceeded to approach Ms. Varner in her bed and stepped on her oxygen hose until she began to suffer oxygen deprivation. “The police then fired a Taser at her and only one wire struck her, in the left arm; the police then fired a second Taser, striking her to the right and left of the midline of her upper chest and applied high voltage, causing burns to her chest, extreme pain and to pass out. *** Hayden’s Note: UPDATE – 2 conflicting stories, read more for lots of commentary on both sides of the story! Was Granny a knife-wielding, suicidal threat? Someone left that part out… ***

Recruiting membership in an unauthorized militia would be a crime if legislation approved Thursday by the House of Representatives becomes law. “Involvement in those types of organizations should be treated no differently than participation in an urban gang,” said Rep. Mike Shelton. *** Hayden’s Note: What the $#!% !? An Unorganized Militia is akin to an urban gang? Umm, have you read the Constitution? “…being necessary to the security of a free State…”

The ever-present Oklahoma wind created a waving sea of Gadsden Flags across the Capital lawn during the most recent Oklahoma Tea Party event on April 14th and 15th. I attended both with a high anticipation of hearing speakers talking about the Federal Reserve, the Income Tax and Ron Paul’s “Audit the Fed” bill. I expected talks against America’s aggressive foreign policy and solutions to the national crisis occurring.
I was sadly disappointed.
Rest in Peace, Tea Party. It was fun while it lasted.

Frustrated by recent political setbacks, tea party leaders and some conservative members of the Oklahoma Legislature say they would like to create a new volunteer militia to help defend against what they believe are improper federal infringements on state sovereignty. State Rep. Charles Key, R-Oklahoma City, said he believes there’s a good chance of introducing legislation for a state-authorized militia next year.

In response to the Mexican government’s efforts to “bully” the people of Oklahoma through a trade war, state Rep. Randy Terrill today called for imposing “much tougher sanctions on illegal aliens.” “This represents an attempt by a foreign nation to interfere with the sovereign actions of a U.S. state,” said Terrill, R-Moore. “We clearly not only have the right, but the responsibility to legislate for the public health, safety, morals and welfare of our citizens – not theirs. “The Mexican government should know that the people of Oklahoma will not be bullied or intimidated by anyone, anywhere.”

“The open-carry movement has gained momentum over the last four or five years because people are waking up to their rights,” Farrell says. “I don’t need a permit to exercise free speech. I don’t need a permit to be tried by a jury if I’m accused of a crime, so why do I need a permit to carry a gun if I have a constitutional right to carry a gun?” ** Hayden’s opinion about Oklahoma, New Orleans and open carry included.**

Rep. Charles Key wants state law to stop federal interference with low-power radio stations. The “Communications Freedom Act – House Bill 2812″ would give stations that are not interfering with existing signals authority to broadcast without federal license. “How can the FCC regulate something under the interstate commerce clause when low-power FM is neither interstate nor commerce?” Rep. Key said he suspects the federal government doesn’t like the “free speech aspect” of low-power FM radio and may view it as a threat. “The federal government is out of control. It’s violated it’s role in regards to the Constitution. The government has become a predator of sorts and it’s become a law until itself.”

A bill has been introduced in the Oklahoma legislature to protect the Second Amendment rights of the state’s citizens. “House Bill 2884, creates the “Oklahoma Firearms Freedom Act,” which declares that a “personal firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition that is manufactured commercially or privately in Oklahoma and that remains within the borders of Oklahoma is not subject to federal law or federal regulation, including registration, under the authority of Congress to regulate interstate commerce.”
