For years, the alternative media has warned about the US military being used against the American people in a time of economic collapse or any sort of martial law scenario.

Drills such as Vigilant Guard 2010 have brought widespread attention to the fact that portions of our own military are training to take on crowds of American citizens demanding food and Constitutional rights in a time of crisis.

Now, a new release by the website Public Intelligence, once again confirms that as recently as February and March of 2012, US troops at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington were conducting training scenarios for a civil disturbance domestic quick reaction force.

A series of photos of the drills shows US troops with crowd control riot shields on the opposite side of actors portraying what can only be described as American citizens.

“The following photos are from March and February of this year and were taken at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.  The first four photos from March depict riot control training for a “domestic quick reaction force” that would aid in civil disturbances....

US Congress Passes Authoritarian Anti-Protest Law

Posted on Mar 05, 2012 in Constitutional & Liberty Issues, Political Issues

A bill passed Monday in the US House of Representatives and Thursday in the Senate would make it a felony—a serious criminal offense punishable by lengthy terms of incarceration—to participate in many forms of protest associated with the Occupy Wall Street protests of last year. Several commentators have dubbed it the “anti-Occupy” law, but its implications are far broader.

The bill—H.R. 347, or the “Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011”—was passed by unanimous consent in the Senate, while only Ron Paul and two other Republicans voted against the bill in the House of Representatives (the bill passed 388-3). Not a single Democratic politician voted against the bill.

The virtually unanimous passage of H.R. 347 starkly exposes the fact that, despite all the posturing, the Democrats and the Republicans stand shoulder to shoulder with the corporate and financial oligarchy, which regarded last year’s popular protests against social inequality with a mixture of fear and hostility.

Among the central provisions of H.R. 347 is a section that would make it a criminal offense to “enter or remain in” an area designated as “restricted.”

The bill defines the areas that qualify as “restricted” in extremely vague and broad terms.

James Cameron, the Hollywood producer responsible for blockbuster films like Terminator, Titanic and Avatar, is reportedly preparing to exit stage left. While the move for the Canadian born Cameron may initially be perceived as a rejection or denouncement of American policies and ideals, Cameron, who has made campaign donations to the Democrat Party in the past, most notably during the 2004 Presidential election where he supported democrat John Kerry, may have ulterior motivations, as evidenced by where he’s planning on moving and what he’s planning on doing once he gets there.

From time to time we get a glimpse into the goings on of the well connected. This may be one of those moments:

Cameron has successfully applied to buy 1,067 hectares (2,636 acres) of farmland in New Zealand. In an application filed with the New Zealand Overseas Investment Office, Cameron says he and his family “intend to reside indefinitely in New Zealand and are acquiring the property to reside on and operate as a working farm.”

As we’ve outlined before, farmland is one of the only reasonable physical assets to hold in the event of a major crisis, as you’ll be outside of highly populated metropolitan areas, you’ll have the ability to produce your own food, generate your own energy, and, more so than your urbanite and suburbanite counterparts, stay away from the chaos that will ensue during a major upheaval....

The wave of civil unrest that has swept the globe over the past year has prompted the Department of Homeland Security to step up its monitoring of Twitter and other social networks in a bid to pre-empt any sign of social dislocation within the United States.

“Department of Homeland Security Undersecretary Caryn Wagner said the use of such technology in uprisings that started in December in Tunisia shocked some officials into attention and prompted questions of whether the U.S. needs to do a better job of monitoring domestic social networking activity,” reports the Associated Press.

Wagner announced that the federal agency would implement new guidelines that would focus on “gleaning information from sites such as Twitter and Facebook for law enforcement purposes.”

Under the new framework, when the department receives information about a “potential threat,” it will then ask its contractors to look for relevant search references using “open source” information.

Although it’s somewhat naive to think that Homeland Security wasn’t already scanning the likes of Facebook and Twitter for social trends and signs of civil unrest, the fact that its now being announced publicly illustrates the increasing concern that riots which have hit the Middle East and Europe over the last 18 months will soon manifest themselves inside the United States....

Occupy OKC Protester Found Dead in Kerr Park, Linked to Bad Drugs

Posted on Oct 31, 2011 in Political Issues

In early reports, it appears that an Occupy OKC protester has died at Kerr Park in Oklahoma City.  Police were initially investigating the death Monday afternoon as as a natural death, however with multiple homicide detectives and forensic investigators on scene, others are reporting they have one subject in custody, facing possible manslaughter charges.  I spoke with an investigator on scene who reported it as a likely drug overdose or stemmed from receiving bad drugs.

According to the Occupy OKC website and Facebook page, the group has been constantly dealing with in-fighting, rampant drug use, and even theft of their donations.  Several organizations who planned on donating to the protesters have since pulled their funding due to lack of organization, among other things.

Update:

For now, the official word is that a protester known as, “The Poet,” died in his tent.  There isn’t much more being said and it sounds as though they are trying to classify it as a natural death, however I’ve never known a natural death to require four detectives, forensics, and a 4 hour investigation....

Peter Schiff, CEO and Chief Global Strategist of Euro Pacific Capital Inc., went to Zuccotti Park and took on Occupy Wall Street protesters and MRCTV caught some of the action.

Note to the Socialist and Collectivist members (those who believe in wealth redistribution and condemn private property rights) of the Occupy Movement: If you’re going to try and debate someone as like Peter Schiff on economic matters, arrive with more than recitations and talking points and please, please have a better response than simply, “…repeal the Bush tax cuts!” for every single question.

Sometimes, I just don’t have the words to describe the utter nonsense I hear from some people.

This man seems to be a “leader” within his small Occupy group as I’ve seen him on NUMEROUS YouTube videos leading marches, chants, general assemblies, and more.  There are hundreds, if not thousands, who follow this blond-haired, pimple-faced Sociology major who espouses an incredible disdain for personal freedom and liberty.  Instead, he promotes a State-led, subserviant lifestyle “where the government injects cash into people’s bank accounts.”  What he forgets is that the Constitution clearly states that Congress shall have the power of the purse, not a private banking cartel who works on Wall Street; the very street he claims to be protesting!

“Freedom from want…,” as he describes it.  I call it a lazy Utopian fantasy.  Continued below…

But that’s just my opinion.  I’m sure Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Andrew Jackson, Benjamin Franklin, and many more would agree with me.  Keynesian economics and quantitative easing has not, nor will it, help the economy....

Chris Burris, writing for Lew Rockwell’s website yesterday, makes a good point about the Occupy Wall Street movement – they are barking up the wrong tree.

Democracy? How about a constitutionally limited republic?

Instead of occupying a park outside of Wall Street, they should march en masse to 33 Liberty Street. That’s where the New York Federal Reserve is located. In addition, they should take their chants and drums to the Harold Pratt House on 58 E. 68th Street at Park Avenue. The Council On Foreign Relations does business at that address.

If the Occupiers had a clue, they would go after the power elite instead of their workers down on Wall Street.

“But they won’t be led to confront the gods on Mount Olympus by their Judas goats and media shills,” Burris writes with an appropriate degree of sarcasm. “David Rockefeller, Pete Peterson, Warren Buffett, David Koch and Henry Kissinger might be held up from lunch at 21.”

In addition to Rockefeller and the CFR, protesters in Washington, DC, should immediately march on the North American headquarters of the Trilateral Commission, situated at 1156 Fifteen Street, NW, and make their demands known....

The Occupy Wall Street crowd has become predictably focused on issues like taxing the middle class and moderately “rich,” ending capitalism and even re-electing Obama to ‘fight’ the very elites who pushed him into power. Focus should instead be on the real source of power for the out-of-control bankster class- the private, unaccountable Federal Reserve bank that creates money out of thin air, issues secret loans to insiders and foreign governments, and systematically institutes debt on the American people through their undue powers.

With this in mind, Alex Jones is calling on patriots to “occupy” branches of the Federal Reserve, with plans to appear at three locations in Texas this weekend in Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio.  Further, people everywhere should converge upon Fed locations in their area to raise awareness about the real culprit behind the economic crisis.

Well-meaning protesters who have joined the Occupy Wall Street effort, including solidarity activities in cities everywhere, need to be educated about the power held by this insidious institution, as well as the false solutions that have been proposed by leading figures on the left and right that only further expand the scope of big government, all while avoiding the elephant in the room....

Occupy Wall Street Protests Mostly Full of Useful Idiot Communists and Socialists

It is becoming increasingly clear that the people who are taking part in the much publicized Occupy Wall Street protests are mostly a bunch of useful idiots promoting communist and socialist ideologies.  Even multi-millionaire propagandist Michael Moore and a myriad of rich Hollywood celebrities have come out supporting the cause of these protests indicating that the establishment has an interest in steering the direction and outcome of what is taking place.  This is one of the most obvious cases of controlled opposition that we have ever seen where the protesters are actually endorsing the collectivist ideologies that benefit the wealthy elite.  Communist and socialist ideolgies when put into practice have historically done nothing but centralize power and wealth in the hands of a few people as seen in the cases of the Soviet Union and China in the 20th century.

Most of these useful idiots protesters know absolutely nothing about how the global financial system works and know less than nothing about the central banking systems of the world.  Central banks like the Federal Reserve System and the European Central Bank have been setup by design to implement a debt based monetary system that has been used to turn the vast majority of people into debt slaves.  They create money out of nothing and then charge interest on top of the money they create out of nothing through loans.  Even the United States government borrows money from this system and because of that they have to implement draconian tax schemes on the people just so they can pay back the interest on the debt.

What’s ironic about this whole situation is that a central banking system is in fact a major plank of the Communist Manifesto as is a graduated income tax both of which have been fully implemented in the United States for almost 100 years now.  With this in mind you would think that these Communist protesters would have nothing to protest because the ideologies which they claim to be in support of have actually been in use for a very long time.  Unfortunately because these people are so ignorant and stupid they have no idea that the ideologies they are promoting are the very cause of the problems they are suffering from....

British police will enforce a 30-day ban on protest marches in five London boroughs starting Friday.

The Metropolitan Police Service were granted permission from Britain’s Home Secretary to impose the ban in Newham, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Islington and Hackney.

Hayden’s Note:

Remind me again why we left Britain and started America?  Ohh, yeah.  Because Britain sucks just slightly more than America.

At least I hope my fellow Americans would have enough intestinal fortitude to challenge something like a “30-day ban on protesting” with fervor and vigor.  I would expect nothing less than mass civil unrest and rightly so.

Those areas were at the center of last month’s violent riots and heavy fighting with police.

Police say they pursued the ban after getting specific information on possible violence and unrest.

The far right English Defense League says it will defy the ban and stage a protest march Saturday. Police officials say they will deploy more than 3,000 officers during the march to deter violence....

If you think that you’ll be able to simply drive to Wal-Mart or the grocery store and load up on food, water and supplies during an actual emergency, you are living in a fantasy world.  We now experience freak weather on a regular basis.  Oklahoma has experienced a record-breaking 53 days of 100+ temperatures, a massive hurricane is nearing Washington, DC and the New York City area, and NASA continues to amplify their warnings regarding solar storms disrupting our way of life.

What if gasoline hit $5 a gallon and unemployment was still hanging around the current ~15%?  What if there were a few small protests that turned a bit violent – not even on the scale of what we see in Europe – but a few townhall meetings that get out of hand?  The level of comfort in this country is quickly sliding downhill and it will only take a few provocations, a few simple emergencies and all hell will break loose.  When it does, I hope that you have taken the time to at least have a 30 or 60-day food supply, some water and basic neccessities (if not a full-blown food storage plan and the related tools, accessories and means to provide power, warmth and protection)....

Executives from Facebook, Twitter and Canadian BlackBerry maker Research in Motion Ltd. are meeting the British government and police Thursday in the wake of the riots to discuss how to prevent social networks from being used to plot violence.

Police and politicians claim young criminals used Facebook, Twitter and BlackBerry’s simple and largely cost-free messaging service to co-ordinate looting sprees during riots in England this month, and Prime Minister David Cameron has said police and intelligence services are looking at whether there should be limits on the use of social media sites or services like BlackBerry Messenger in times of disorder.

[Simon Black's Note: Tim Staermose, our partner in Asia, is filling in for Simon today. Hayden's Note at the end.]

Today I was accosted by someone begging for money. I know… big deal, right? It’s not an unusual occurrence anywhere in the world, especially here in the Philippines.

Begging is actually big business in Manila. Often small children are forced to work the streets by a ‘begging syndicate,’ and adults keep a watchful eye from a distance before confiscating the kids’ proceeds.  This is one of the lowest acts of humanity I can think of.

The person who approached me today, however, was not a child. He was a perfectly able-bodied, 17 or 18 year-old youth. He chased after me shouting, “My friend! My friend! You give me coins!” If you notice the language, he wasn’t exactly asking… more demanding.

This is a mentality that I will never understand.

Yes it’s unfortunate that there are people in the world who struggle to make a decent living for themselves and their families. But I firmly believe that tossing a few occasional coins is not going to solve their underlying problem....

10 Signs That Economic Riots and Civil Unrest Inside the United States is a Possibility

Posted on Aug 15, 2011 in Emergency Preparedness & Survival

TruthisTreason.net – Kevin Hayden

Source: Michael Snyder - Truth Contributor

You should let the video footage of the wild violence that just took place in London burn into your memory because the same things are going to be happening all over the United States as the economy continues to crumble.  We have raised an entire generation of young people with an “entitlement mentality”, but now the economy is producing very few good jobs that will actually enable our young people to work for what they feel they are entitled to.

If you are under 30 in America today, things look really bleak.  The vast majority of the good jobs are held by people that are older, and they aren’t about to give them up if they can help it.  It is easy for the rest of us to tell young Americans to “take whatever they can”, but the reality is that there is intense competition for even the most basic jobs.  For instance, McDonald’s recently held a “National Hiring Day” during which a million Americans applied for jobs.  Only 6.2% of the applicants were hired.  In the old days you could walk down to McDonald’s and get a job whenever you wanted to, but now any job is precious.

The frustration among our young people is palpable.  Most of them feel entitled to “the American Dream” and they feel like the system has failed them.  Unfortunately, many of them are already turning to violence.  But the economic riots and the civil unrest that we have already seen are nothing compared to what is coming.  Americans are angry, and as the economy continues to collapse that anger is going to reach unprecedented heights.

Operation Garden Plot, Insurrection and CONPLAN 3502 – Hayden’s Note on Katrina Attached

Editorial by Kevin Hayden

Back in late 2010, the Army Corps of Engineers inadvertently posted information about Northcom’s CONPLAN 3502, included within information about a FEMA-simulated earthquake drill called National Level Exercise 2011.

The documents reveal how a secret Pentagon Civil Disturbance Operations plan calls for military-operated detention and search operations within the United States. It is mentioned in a Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) Handbook that was prepared by the Army’s Joint Test and Evaluation Command. It was also mentioned by General Victor E. Renuart, Northcom commander, in testimony before the House Armed Services Committee’s subcommittee on Terrorism and Unconventional Threats and Capabilities on March 5, 2008.

More information can be found here. IndyMedia provided extrensive coverage, not that the New York Times or the Washington Post noticed. The establishment press was uniformly silent.

CONPLAN 3502 surfaced again this week as the Brits scrambled to confront riots sweeping their country.

“With British Prime Minister David Cameron authorizing the use of rubber bullets and water canons in wake of the turbulent London riots spreading through Britain, questions have been raised about how authorities in the U.S....

America: Why Aren’t You Protesting?

As noted by Richard Heinberg on June 22nd, 2011, the media has lacked the ability to connect the economic situations in the Middle East and their uprisings to what is happening in Europe. I would avoid the word “Revolution” in the case of the Middle Eastern uprisings, seeing as no dramatic systemic changes have taken place, only the ousting of dictators. Same as I would avoid the words of social upheaval in the case of European protests, which have been quite calm and only demanding to maintain the social safety nets produced through years of labor struggle. Rather, the odd occurrence is the ostensibly quiet population of the United States who are in many cases having the same economic problems and austerity based government solutions. This is a place where the media does want to ask the public the question, “Why aren’t you protesting?”

Effectively in the United States the labor movement has been dismantled over 30 years through multiple policies, the main one being “Right-to-Work” laws, which have left only 6.9% of private sector workers in unions, and 36.2% of public sector workers in unions....

Late last week, Thomas James Ball reached his breaking point. Driven to desperation by a system that bankrupted him and destroyed his family, Ball walked up to the main door of the Keene County, New Hampshire courthouse, doused himself with gasoline, and lit himself ablaze.

Hardly anyone seems to have noticed.

Conversely, when a 26-year old Tunisian man lit himself on fire a few months ago after police confiscated the fruits and vegetables he had been selling without a proper permit, it launched a wave of revolution across the Middle East.

President of Bahrain’s Center for Human Rights Nabeel Rajab says the US media have been ordered not to cover news on the government’s brutal crackdown on Bahraini people.

Reports from the Center’s colleagues in the United States say “In the US some news agencies and TV stations were asked not to report on Bahrain and not to embarrass [President Barack Obama’s administration,” Rajab told Press TV.

He went on to say that the US and the Western governments have chosen to keep silent over ongoing atrocities in Bahrain due to their support for the country’s authoritarian regime.

According to unconfirmed reports, over 420 people have been arrested during ongoing protests in the kingdom, Rajab pointed out.

The Bahraini protesters continue to demand the ouster of the 200-year-old-plus monarchy as well as constitutional reforms.

At least 25 people have been killed and about 1,000 others injured during the government-sanctioned crackdowns on peaceful demonstrators.

Joined recently by police units and troops from Saudi and the United Arab Emirates, the Bahraini government forces have launched a deadly crackdown on the popular revolution that began to sweep the Persian Gulf island on February 14....

Libyan Warplanes Start Bombing Protesters, 2 Pilots Defect and Land in Malta

Libyan warplanes were bombing indiscriminately across Tripoli on Monday, a resident of the Libyan capital told al Jazeera television in a live broadcast.

“What we are witnessing today is unimaginable. Warplanes and helicopters are indiscriminately bombing one area after another. There are many, many dead,” Adel Mohamed Saleh said.

Saleh, who called himself a political activist, said the bombings had initially targeted a funeral procession.

“Our people are dying. It is the policy of scorched earth.” he said. “Every 20 minutes they are bombing.”

Asked if the attacks were still happening he said: “It is continuing, it is continuing. Anyone who moves, even if they are in their car they will hit you.”

There was no independent verification of the report but Fathi al-Warfali, the Libyan activist who heads the Swiss-based Libyan Committee for Truth and Justice, who was taking part in a protest outside U.N. European headquarters in Geneva said he had heard the same reports.

“Military planes are attacking civilians, protesters in Tripoli now. The civilians are frightened. Where is the United Nations, where is Amnesty International?” al-Warfali told Reuters....

Wis. Gov. Tells WhiteHouse to Mind it’s Own Business, Protesting Teachers Make $100k

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) says his party has been emboldened by massive protests against his controversial budget plan.  Walker said demonstrators who filled the state capitol building in Madison and the boycott by state Senate Democrats — some of whom fled the state in protest — have steeled the resolve of members of his party.

“If anything, I think it’s made the Republicans in the Assembly and the Senate stronger,” he told Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren in an interview Thursday night. “They’re not going to be bullied. They’re not going to be intimidated.”

Walker also fired back at President Obama, who sided with the public employees, saying on Fox News Friday, “We are focused on balancing our budget. It would be wise for the government and others in Washington to focus on balancing their budgets, which they are a long way off from doing.”

Public-sector workers are upset with the plan, which calls on them to pay to receive pension and health benefits and removes collective bargaining rights for some.

Hayden’s Note:

I thought cutting budgets, getting the deficit in check and doing what needs to be done to save the state and country was a good thing…?  It’s tough and brutal, but if we don’t, there won’t be a government to protest.  There won’t be any unions.  Do they not understand this?  I support Governor Walker’s statement directed at Obama and Washington.  It’s none of the White House’s business what happens in Wisconsin.  Remember the 10th Amendment?  State’s Rights?  Antagonizing the protesters with Hope and Change is the same thing Hillary is doing with the Egyptians and Iranians; encouraging them to protest while condemning, arresting and beating Americans who stand in defiance of them....

Atta Mohammad Noor, the Governor of Balkh Province, says the foreign forces frequently enter residents’ homes and arrest people. “These actions by foreign forces are inhumane and illegal under the Afghan law,” he told reporters in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of Balkh Province on Thursday.

Hayden’s Note:

I’m sure they still “hate us for our freedoms…”   Right?  Give me a break.  With Hillary recently espousing her rhetoric in support of the protesting Egyptians yet brutalizing and arresting a former CIA worker who dared to stand during her speech in defiance, and the State Dept. trying to stir the pot in other middle eastern countries via Twitter, it amazes me that we wake up each day and allow this un-American tragedy to continue.  What if a foreign military was in Dallas, going house to house arresting Americans and using drones to flatten neighborhoods?

Better yet, why can we not abide by the rules and laws that we helped Afghanistan set up in their constitution?  We are terrorists in the eyes of many Middle Easterners and I have great sympathy for them.  We attend rallies and “protests” trying to address our own Constitutional issues and yet many of these same “freedom lovers” condemn other parts of the world to a life of death and destruction while supporting the very political-hacks that they “rally” against.  It’s one big circle....

Wisconsin National Guard Preps for Worker Unrest After Governor Unveils Emergency Budget

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a Republican, unveiled an emergency budget proposal Friday to deal with the state’s growing budget woes. Wisconsin has a $137 million deficit this year, and faces a projected $2.9 billion budget shortfall for 2012 and 2013.

Under Walker’s plan, public employees would lose all of their collective bargain rights, except a limited negotiation of wages. State workers would also have to contribute more to their pension and health care benefit plans.

Unions erupted in outrage as they learned about Walker’s proposal. The Governor told Milwaukee Public Radio that he has briefed the Wisconsin National Guard to prepare them for any worker unrest today.

Hayden’s Note:

I don’t really have any sympathy for union workers.  While there is a fine, fine balance between the benefits of the free-market and from the union-idea, I find that the free market wins.  If the unions would be a bit more reasonable in their prices, I would support them, but they seem to cause more trouble than solution in my opinion.  Comments?...

US State Dept Tweets to Iran, Tries to Stir Up Protests

The US State Department has begun sending Twitter messages to Iranians, alluding to the “historic role” social media have played in mass protests against Iran’s 2009 disputed presidential polls.

The Twitter feeds began Sunday as US officials accused Iran of hypocrisy by supporting the anti-government revolt in Egypt but seeking to prevent anti-government demonstrations in Iran.

Hayden’s Note:

Gee, imagine that.  The State Department is trying to stir up problems and create drama in Iran.  Pretty bold of them to do it so openly on Twitter.  But, that’s a sign of the times we’re in.  The intelligence and defense community can openly taunt other countries, on social media and get away with it.  This is a blatant attempt to create another “color-coded revolution.”

On the Twitter account, USAdarFarsi, the State Department said it “recognizes historic role of social media among Iranians We want to join in your conversations.”

In another Tweet, the State Department said: “Iran has shown that the activities it praised Egyptians for it sees as illegal, illegitimate for its own people.”

In a third Tweet, it said “US calls on Iran to allow people to enjoy same universal rights to peacefully assemble, demonstrate as in Cairo.”

In Tehran, riot police on Monday fired tear gas and shot paintballs at protesters who turned what they said was a Tehran rally in support of Arab revolts into an anti-government demonstration, witnesses said....

Algeria Shuts Down Internet, FaceBook Amidst Protests and Riots

Internet providers were shut down and Facebook accounts deleted across Algeria on Saturday as thousands of pro-democracy demonstrators were arrested in violent street demonstrations.

Plastic bullets and tear gas were used to try and disperse large crowds in major cities and towns, with 30,000 riot police taking to the streets in Algiers alone.

There were also reports of journalists being targeted by state-sponsored thugs to stop reports of the disturbances being broadcast to the outside world.

But it was the government attack on the internet which was of particular significance to those calling for an end to President Abdelaziz Boutifleka’s repressive regime.

Protesters mobilising through the internet were largely credited with bringing about revolutions in Egypt and Tunisia.

“The government doesn’t want us forming crowds through the internet,” said Rachid Salem, of Co-ordination for Democratic Change in Algeria.

On Saturday at least 500 had been arrested by early evening in Algiers alone, with hundreds more in Annaba, Constantine and Oran taking part in the so-called February 12 Revolution.

“The police station cells are overflowing,” said Sofiane Hamidouche, a demonstrator in Annaba.
